    Footwell carpet removal problem (W126)

Thanks for that. At each end of the scuttle are a number of drain holes. Do I just poke around through all of them or is there one particular channel I should clean?

    Footwell carpet removal problem (W126)

Just read the thread about leaking windscreen seals to will check that tomorrow. The glass is quite badly shot blasted suggesting it's an old screen so the adhesive may have given up as was the case in the thread I read. I don't own any welding rods or similar so what else could I use to rod...

    Footwell carpet removal problem (W126)

Update: Having got everything dry, I ran the car for a week or so with no carpets just to ensure no more water was getting in. Everything seemed okay so the carpets went back in. However, following the recent snow, the I've noticed the main carpet section is damp again on the driver's side...

    W126 300SE Tyre Size?

Had the car for a year now and the Nokia (!) tyres that came with it are nearing the end of their life. The car is fitted with 205/65 R15 94H front and rear but when I punch the car's details into various tyre sellers' websites, I often seem to get 195 back as the recommended tread width. Can...

    Footwell carpet removal problem (W126)

Got the mat out okay in the end. Had a good look at that clip so may remove the pedal when I come to put the mat back. I've left it out at the moment just to check that my clearing of the drain channels has indeed stopped the water. What's the normal route in for the water in such cases?

    Footwell carpet removal problem (W126)

Fell victim to clogged up drain channels in the scuttle/wiper recess and now need to dry out the driver's side footwell. I'm trying to remove the heavy foam backed carpet and can lift the rear of the mat no problem but struggle where it goes round the accelerator pedal. I was being...

    W126 300SE - 6 months on ...

That makes sense. It dropped to 15 during the really cold snap (-10°) we had up here. Thanks everyone for the comments and the advice about replacing a pair of springs.

    W126 300SE - 6 months on ...

Had my 1990 300SE for six months now and really enjoying it. Still suffering from an intermittent stalling problem, where it stalls in drive when I pull up at give ways or when making slow 90° turns. Tends to be worse when warm. Took it to my local independent who gave it the once over. He...

LPG Conversion - Repair or Remove?

Clarkson Autogas took a look at the car this morning and the bloke explained that the type of single point system fitted was destined to have problems on the Merc. He said it wasn't worth restoring this system, rather a new multipoint system was required. However, with my low mileage, this is...

LPG Conversion - Repair or Remove?

The car's going into Clarkson Autogas (not the original installer) on Monday and they're going to give me quotes for repairing the system and for removing it. I've been doing a bit more reading on LPG conversions and it seems they can be troublesome if not properly set up. Still don't know if...

    What's A Good W126 Worth?

I paid £2,100 for my 1990 G plate W126 300SE with 119k on the clock. It's in great nick but I suspect paid a little over the odds for it. In my defence I needed wheels as the car was to replace my written off Alfa. Pics over on this thread ...

    W126 Heated Rear Screen u/s

Had my 300SE for nearly a week now and am still finding things that don't work. I thought the only significant gizmo that had packed in was the sunroof and decided I was happy to live without it. However, with a fugged up rear window this morning, I discovered that my rear screen heater doesn't...

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FIGHT.. REMINDS ME OF ROCKY-sylvi vs the Russian..Niceee

Apparently his trainer has been wearing Elton John style platforms to simulate Valuev's height. Hayes is the better boxer, but Valuev's reach and sheer physical presence will be huge obstacles to overcome. Not planning to PPV. I presume it's on BBC 5Live?

    Mercedes Car Specialists, Glasgow

Just picked my car up from Mercedes Car Specialists at Ibrox this morning. This was its first service since Jan 2004 () albeit it has only done 2.5k miles since then. Dave, the owner, was very friendly and explained what he would do to the car given its service history. It's a 20 year old...
