    2006 W169 SAM unit)s)

I believe that some Mercedes models have more than one SAM unit. I have located one in this car; it is in the passenger side footwell. Does this model have another one and if so, where is it?

    W169 ABS/BAS/ESP

I think I have located the one which controls ABS/BAS/ESP and the brake light system. It is, I think, clipped to the bottom of the fusebox in the driver footwell. But how does it come out? It is loose but the cables at the back prevent further removal. Has anyone done this?

    W169 ABS/BAS/ESP

I understand that one of the SAM modules may be under the fusebox in the drivers side footwell. Can someone confirm this and also tell me where the other one is. If there is one....

    W169 ABS/BAS/ESP

Further to the above, the (newish) battery will go from fully charged to completely flat in the space of seven days, if the car isnt used. I have read on these pages that the SAM modules (if affected by water ingress) could be responsible for this. Checking the current drain (after all courtesy...

    W169 ABS/BAS/ESP

Long story but...my sons 2006 W169 has been sitting on his driveway for some months now, unused and unloved. So. Lets do something about it, thought I... Car had a pool of water behing the passenger seat and other signs of water ingress. Door seals etc seem to be Ok but I found what I think is...

    E350 ABS/EBD/Run flat inoperable messages

Yes I have seen the other posts about this subject but my question is slightly different and I wondered if anyone can assist. The above messages pop up after about seven or eight miles. Switch engine off, restart and they are gone. Using my iCarsoft tells me that there is a problem with the...

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

Yes. I read all of the previous comments you made and some of that advice was useful. And very welcome. That is why I initiated this post in the first place because I was seeking advice. Isnt that what the forum is for? But as for telling someone that you dont think they are capable....well...

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

Mmmm. I must apologise because you seem to have mistaken my comments at the end of post 30 to be an indication of ignorance, when actually they were intended to be a brief moment of levity. Sorry about that.. If you are a member of the group you describe as 'professionals' perhaps you should...

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

Sorry. I should have said 'pcv valve' not ''PCR'. Is it something to do with buses? (Sorry. Silly little joke there...couldnt resist it...) And somebody mentioned....swirl flaps...ermm....what might those be then..? And as for having your swirl flaps deleted...ooer missus..... ......you stay...

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

Thank you all for the vast amount of information here. Couple of things though. PCR? Whats that then? And as for putting two-stroke oil in the tank.....well. Never heard of that before. Always a first time I guess..... Car recently had a dose of 'diesel' treatment just prior to the last MOT...

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

I ve seen it happen many times with other vehicles....you may have too. In some cases, they leave black sooty marks on the road. Ever seen that? I wonder what the cause for that is? Mine isnt as bad as that though...nowhere near. Not quite as bad as a 747 taking off... I shall attempt to...

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

Ermm....well...need to be a little careful here... Lets just say that when I give it the boot at 'motorway speed' that is when I notice it. If I keep my foot down it fades off. And it definitely appears to be black, not blue.

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

Wow. Lots of stuff there, eh... First of all, I have noticed that intermittent burning smell before. And yes, occcasionally the exhaust does sound different. And I have also noticed occasional brief changes in idle speed. So it sounds like it is behaving as it should. Doesnt it? As far as...

E350 black exhaust smoke on hard acceleration

This topic has been discussed before on this forum, I know. Black smoke on hard acceleration. Some folks say it is quite normal, some dont. I do know that there are certain things which can contribute to excessive smoke, one of those being that the car has been 'chipped' (I know this because I...

    E350 rear wheel alignment

OK chaps. Thank you for the info. Couple of things here...... The reason I mentioned the 4up with luggage configuration is because next week four of us are off to sunny Cornwall. Normally the car carries just myself and some tools and spares. I, too, would be happy to trust the Mercedes-Benz...

    E350 rear wheel alignment

Further to this matter, I suspect I am being fed some misleading information here.... As I said, the tyre was worn on the extreme inside of the tread, where the tread meets the sidewall. I know that underinflation of the tyre can cause wear like this but of course I do not know what the old tyre...

    E350 rear wheel alignment

Good morning everybody, My 2011 E350 needs attention. I have had to have the O/S rear tyre replaced because the tyre was worn down to the casing on the inside if the tyre. After replacing the tyre I had a four wheel alignment check and the report shows that the toe adjustment at the rear is not...
