Thanks Simon - yes I did give it some thought as I know you mentioned it when I came to view but decided to go MB as a) I will only do ~2k/year and b) the original wheels are very easy to clean. Any progress on your Saab searching?
Thanks Abb - yes Simon really has looked after it. What I've done/had done since purchase wasn't strictly necessary but finishes it off imho.
merc85 - is yours similar but with the double-spokes?
Hi all :)
Still thoroughly enjoying Simon's old car and thought I'd post a few updates since purchase.
Scuttle itself was fine, the issue was the rubber top had seen better days. Managed to do this myself (pushing the limit of my capabilities here). Also replaced the wiper arm nuts as the...

This one speaks for itself (and only £11 from MB including nuts!) Also gave it a couple of coats of clear lacquer before it was fitted.

Hi all :)
Still thoroughly enjoying Simon's old car and thought I'd post a few updates since purchase.
Whilst cleaning under the auxilliary battery tray, I accidentally pulled out the windscreen reservoir lower rubber hose  I found it's possible to remove the front wheel arch liners...
It's the horizontal graph (so ~388 lb/ft). Assuming for argument's sake the graph is at the wheels and using a (very) rough multiplication of 1.18 gives 457 lb/ft which is almost spot on for a W204 C63 (443 lb/ft), however, assuming the graph bhp figure is also at the wheels would give 614 which...
Hi all :)
Still thoroughly enjoying Simon's old car and thought I'd post a few updates I've had carried out since purchase.
Rear brakes were good (fairly new) although the fronts were coming to the end of their life. I opted for genuine MB discs/pads.
It came with (almost) new Continental...

Still thoroughly enjoying Simon's old car and thought I'd post a few updates I've had carried out since purchase.
The original headlights had become home to some insects and whilst I was able to remove them (very fiddly), the chrome inside had started to fade/peel in places plus one...
Hi all - car has had a EC 83mm installed for many years although whilst in for a recent service they pointed out that some of the rivets have warped/distorted. Been in touch with MSL who confirmed that these can go over time and to contact a local engineering company to have them replaced.
Can...
Hi Chris - I had issues with tuning my old W211 E55 a while back - 77mm pulley, bwk, downpipes, x-pipe, k/c cooling as the s/c snout gears seized. Ended up going the fixed pulley/map route and whilst it does work the delivery is brutal. Car now sold although I have recently bought a fellow...
Update: CD-slot holder wobbles too much for my liking - unfortunate design flaw. It also obscures some of the climate control buttons and part of the audio/nav display screen which I found irritating so have returned it.
Replaced with a Brodit ProClip Angled ConsoleMount (633042) that is a)...
Disconnected mine recently to clean around it. Car still started & electrical stuff I was using worked e.g. a/c, c/l although got the end-ofthe-world angry red 'visit workshop' alert. Once reconnected it disappeared...
