Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

You have a very different car with very different size wheels. They will have different treatment and will be subject to the all season tyres undoubtedly. I'd be pleasantly surprised if it will be delivered like that ;) Undoubtedly it will return for many other who haven't experienced it...

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

Indeed :) The tyres are actually different, the star marked tyres have Contiseal technology, whilst the MO marked don't. Further more the EU sticker suggests they are quieter (they are to my ears), handle better in the rain as well. My dealer told me all these marking are ********, to be honest...

Heathrow meet and greet cars given parking tickets

I use these services about 1-3 times per month. Never had an issue, never seen undue mileage on the car. Maybe they run them backwards ferris b style. I happily would use the official airport valet parking services anytime.

PCP the next Sub-Prime Mortgage crisis??

As the saying goes; you make you money when you are buying (not when your are selling). I simply do my sums and work out what is the best value; sometimes that is buy outright, sometimes that is PCP, sometimes that is business lease, sometimes it is personal lease. I don't exclude anything...

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

Ok, apologies for not posting for a while. I thought it was best to get on with my life and monitor the situation. I've now done about 1,000 miles on my replacement Continental SportContact 5 Star rated tyres for my 21" equipped GLC43. And despite a single little wobble, I am please to report...

    Not declaring?

There is normally a sticker in the car, often in the boot where the spare wheel is that lists the codes of what is on the vehicle. If you have an insurer that is interested in that (I have never encountered one), then you simply take a photo and email it to them :) Then all is declared....

    Not declaring?

yes same here, never had an insurer that was interested in official options. I think if that was universally the case then a heck of a lot of us were breaking the law. However whenever I apply aftermarket modifications I always declare them. Heck when a remap was only £11.70 extra per year why...

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

And the million dollar question is, what tyres does it have? Without that information something is missing really as it can make a huge difference.... Besides the initial hiccup on Saturday evening a week ago it has been smooth driving. Tuesday was an interesting test as temperatures dropped...

    A45 vs golf r vs rs3

Maybe the Estate is different, my Golf R Hatchback is louder and deeper than my GLC43. But it has also done a lot more miles. Mine definitely doesn't sound boring and normal at the exhaust end. I've reduced the sound from the resonator on the inside, it really wasn't necessary.

    A45 vs golf r vs rs3

I've got the Golf R - really nice especially with DSG just such a wonderful gearbox and very well suited to the car. Basic spec has nothing left to desire in my opinion. Only thing I wish I went for is the adaptive suspension. Whilst it handles superbly on the standard I do find it a bit tiring...

No all sport contacts are the same if you paid attention :p I used to have SportContact MO rated, now I have SportContact Star rated with contiseal. They are different tyres ;)

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

Well well well I'm glad I didn't light that cigar.... I just took it out for a spin. It is 7.5 degrees celcius, and I'm please to say the embarrassment factor is eliminated. The car is quite going around a corner.... However, it has turned into a mute crab....Yes, you can feel it moving...

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

The smile on my wife's face when she drove it was priceless. It is hard for people to imagine how remarkable the transformation is of this car. But I'm not lighting that cigar just yet, I'll monitor it closely....

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

Yes they are summer tyres. Yes who knows, it may mask it. All that I know is that my car in the standard MO rated tyres did it always and now it doesn't. But I'll monitor closely. I'll also redo my video under the same/similar conditions and see if it still moved about. It truly doesn't feel...

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

Yes in the same spots. When I had my new fronts installed a few weeks back it did it instantly. And my car did it from new. But yes, I will monitor closely.

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

Well it had the same original wheels and tyres I had. They swapped my different tyres and same wheels to that one and it also stopped. We will see over the next few days what will happen. One thing I know is that my car now drives as I expect a Mercedes to drive. It never done that since...

Mercedes GLC Clonking and juddering on near full steering lock

Brief update. I picked up my car today. The mechanical investigation didn't show anything. The other GLC43 was doing it as well now. However .... Mine is now on star rated contiseal SportContact tyres and for the first time I've owned this car I can't get it to crab. It is totally smooth...

    Karcher or Nilfisk

I've had 3 Karcher's in a row, no idea what model numbers they were. I think they were mid-range or something about 175-300 for each I spend. And each and ever single one started leaking, some from the motor, all from the triggers. In hindsight I felt stupid I went back for more. I bought a...
