Thanks a lot you guys - I thought I was gone and forgotten about by now it's been so long :o
Yeah, so much has gone wrong with my car over the past 12 months - it's unreal. I have spent close to £2,000 on it so far and it STILL has the same niggling little issues. It got to the point...
*sigh* they don't make 'em like they used to...
You're probably right. To my knowledge, there never was a grille upgrade for the pre-facelifts. I have seen some shoddy knock offs on eBay, etc but I wanted to at least by a genuine Mercedes-Benz part (or in this case, parts).
Looking at a...
Hehe, well spotted. :)
The grille arrived broken in 2 pieces :( This probably happened during shipping. I imported it from Canada and sending it back would have cost me more in time, customs charges and shipping than the grille was actually worth. So I had to make do the best I could...
Using KillerHERTZ excellent w202 HOWTO, I decided to remove my tired old grille and replace it with the grille from the W210 (Cut to size).
I apologise in advance for the poor pics...

Frontal shot at Shude's house...
Not had any experience with clay, but iron ones do indeed rust. I suppose you could attack it with Hammerite every year to get round this problem.
The heat they give out is tremendous. Me and Shude used a leaf-blower to oxygenate the fire, and the resulting heat was amazing :)
Any use to you?
Having mainly used external modems in the past, I must admit I am not too hot with regards linux internal modem support.
I actually use Gnoppix myself, basically the same but with a Gnome front end :)
Have a look here for inspiration:
Click on the Vehicle Makes menu item on the left (menu requires Java VM to be installed) and select the 124 Styling section. Lots of body kits to look at.
This Australian company actually import their kit from Europe -...
Yeah, I am trying to imagine what a set of AMG wheels will look like on mine powdercoated black to match the respray which I intend to get :P Chrome wheels do look nice on 124s admittedly, for example:
Thanks for the clarification :)
Sp!ke: What are you planning to do with your suspension? The reason I ask is I think my front springs are past their best, and foresee some work in the pipeline. Had my rear springs replaced last June when I bought the car and there is a noticeable difference...
May not apply to the 209, but ask Shude about folding door mirrors. He fitted them to his previous 202 and they were amazing :)
Actually, ask Shude anyway - he is a tome of Mercedes information ;)
And sometimes they seem to be way out.
For instance, my 300CE-24v is listed as 0-62 of around 8 seconds. I find this somewhat hard to believe (although not impossible) for a hulking great 6-cylinder motorway cruiser. That being said, it certainly moves when you want it to ;)
You have the same car as me, so I would be interested to learn this for myself :)
However, the more I think about it - the more I like the idea of changing the massive pre-facelift grille to an S600 style but still in its original chrome surrounding. Then I plan on respraying my car monotone...
These things come and go on eBay quite often - more so on .com as opposed to .co.uk. So keep checking :)
I suspect the book is long out of print, as I can't seem to find it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and the usual places.
