W212 E63 AMG advice and questions

I wouldn't be going anywhere other than MSL. They know the cars better than me, and know them better than most. I don't drive my cars that hard as it is, but it would be good to know that I have that extra oomph! I assume that the facelift W212 is the better car?

W212 E63 AMG advice and questions

I would only take it to MSL if I got one remapped. Part of the plan when getting one is to remap though. I note you're in Bicester, not very far from me in Aylesbury.

W212 E63 AMG advice and questions

I am in the market for an E63 (face lift) so reading some of these replies is a bit worrying. Is a remap likely to result in issues?

    W211 E55 brake calipers

Yeah that is what I have been trying to look into today. The car currently has 2 pistons on each front caliper but these are quite big. Does anyone know what the piston area is for the 8 pot E55 calipers? I haven't been able to find the information out despite using my googlefu.

    W211 E55 brake calipers

That is a hugely kind offer of you, thank you. Let me see if I can line a few ducks up and I may very well take you up on offer. Very much appreciated regardless.

    W211 E55 brake calipers

Thanks again. I think I need to find a pair now to see about getting them mocked up, as they may not fit when assembled. Just need to find a cheap set as I don't want to be left with calipers I can't use. I also need to see if they will suit a 374mm disc as I know the standard size is 360mm...

    W211 E55 brake calipers

Thanks Minty. Do they mount on both sides? Could you measure the distance between the holes if you don't mind please? To answer above, looking at a possible project to see if they will fit another car.

    W211 E55 brake calipers

Does anyone have any pictures of the mounting points on the front calipers from the E55 AMG? Also, are the calipers any different to the w211 E63 calipers? Thanks.

JayEmm on that white import E55

Just for info, JayEmm does know why the 7 speed wasn't used for the E55, but didn't feel the need to keep repeating it in every M113/M113k engined car review that he did.

The Sierra one is scary. I've owned several Sierra's in the past, but looking at that....

    Remapping the E63 at MSL

Good I am glad! It's your car, your wallet, you do the right thing for both :D. I am sure it is no slouch at 666bhp anyway! Some decent gains, though that sounds like stage 2 for the decat? I'd rather run less boost and make more power, than run a lot of boost but losing power. Have the...

    Remapping the E63 at MSL

I hope that you didn't think I was being negative, unfortunately my posting style can come across that way as I am quite blunt and don't see the point of skirting around things. I like to live a bit on the wild side, hence owning a V10 M5 which was always going to be a source of failure lol...

    Remapping the E63 at MSL

I understand, but I have seen plenty with 700bhp plus not heard of many engine failures.

    Remapping the E63 at MSL

Nice results. I thought these remapped to 700bhp though?

How many V8 engined cars have you owned and what's your favourite

The company was ran by a person called Brian McAllister. I believe he is currently still active, after being inactive for so long. This is the damage inflicted on the oil pump. You'd expect that can of damage to have marked the sump / stopped the engine from running, but it did neither...
