S500eL plug in hybrid: Anyone got experience of it ?

The previous “owner” of my last S500 was the current King of Thailand… Strange bloke. Don’t think he’s in mbclub.

S500eL plug in hybrid: Anyone got experience of it ?

Yep, looks like so. Understandable, I guess, given that so many are chauffeur driven and main dealer maintained through first ownership. Still, I thought I'd ask the question...

Are busy Motorways back to normal ?

Yes, it is, because Google maps is telling you is what hold ups are at the particular moment you look at it, or at an expected point in time - like departure at 2pm tomorrow afternoon. Unlike Uncle Mike in Wimbledon, who might be able to say "well, the last time I did exactly that journey at...

Are busy Motorways back to normal ?

Google maps is your friend. The motorways around London still seem quieter to me, with hotspots at curious times. Think “curate’s egg:” aka “good in parts.” But Google maps is usually pretty accurate at telling you how long a journey will take at any one moment in time.

Can Mercedes Benz Survive in UK market ?

Employers have been moving away from car schemes since the 1980's, as any Ford / Vauxhall / JLR enthusiast will explain. Mercedes, BMW and Audi have all evolved their business model to offer PCP packages to the typical naive Company car escapee. Three year old company cars have "dragged...

CL500 - is it worth restoring?

No need to apologise, life is about learning new stuff. This is the C216. This is an example of a 2010 CL500 C216, which sold for £11k with 60k miles on the clock. They launched the C216 in 2007, at the same time as the S Class update - the CL is a coupe body on an S class...

Can Mercedes Benz Survive in UK market ?

What makes you think that the third, fourth and fifth biggest car brands in the UK are under threat? These three brands together sell seven times as many cars in the UK as Jaguar Land Rover.

CL500 - is it worth restoring?

It's important to drive cars that you're considering. The facelift C215 is quite a different thing to yours, and the C216 is a very different thing altogether. Own and maintain whatever you fancy, just be aware that the 2003 onward CL500 feels like a more refinedt car to the model that you...

CL500 - is it worth restoring?

Simples: £9 or 10k will get you a 2007 CL500 on 60k miles with a decent service history and provenance. A big reliable luxury car that you can drive anywhere. Keep it five years and it'll still look luxurious An equivalent S500 might be better value but you're not in the market for a...

CL500 - is it worth restoring?

Bear in mind that low mileage and greater age increases value: See this C140 from 1998 on 54k which was auctioned this morning. Again, I know some people who still run their low mileage C140's as weekend Dad's cars but, by definition, they aren't selling them - because they're worth less to a...

CL500 - is it worth restoring?

What do you mean by "of all the big engined coupes?" What brands / what era ? Can't tell if you're thinking back to the earlier C140, and forward to the C216, or if you're including the BMW 1980's 635 / 1990's 850 / noughts 630?

CL500 - is it worth restoring?

£10k !!! Cripes, that's a fortune for this era of car. (Although I personally haven't owned that specific model car, I do know a couple of people who run them today and who love them as modern classic second cars.) Buying carefully, you'll be able to pick up a 2003 CL500 for just over £5k...

Recommendations for rear-mounted 2 bike rack for 2017 GLE 250

I was simply surprised that it didn’t come up in your earlier research. The Bones is a popular product. As regards the roof box, a ladder is not the solution, you just need a compact folding step, as used by DIYers to give you that extra foot to comfortably swing a bike onto a roof holder...

    Changing radio in 2012 E350

What is a radio ? Is it like a built-in real-time podcast thing, but without the ability to pause? Or is it like Spotify without the ability to choose your playlists? More seriously..... there is no simple answer to this. It depends on exactly which car and unit. Your local specialist...

S500eL plug in hybrid: Anyone got experience of it ?

Yes it looks a bit of a pain, but I guess we've all seen worse. From the hilarious little boot of the Lexus GS450h to the compromised boot spaces of any S500 or Bentley with one of those stupid wine coolers built in between the two rear seats.

S500eL plug in hybrid: Anyone got experience of it ?

Has anyone got experience of using the S500e L ? (W222) There seem to be a couple of hundred in the UK but I can't find any user experience pieces, apart from the Car Magazine long term test. Would appreciate comments from owners. Is it worth the effort, compared to an S500 or equally...
