It is indeed a popular misconception. There is no legislation regarding the size of the 'excess plastic' of the plate. As long as the characters are of the correct font, height, width and spaced correctly (11mm between digits and 33mm between groups of digits IIRC) you are all good. :thumb:
Definitely. The 63 will have air on the rear and springs on the front, whereas your 350 has the conventional, spring/shock set up.
The previous gen (219 55 AMG) had airmatic all round, is was noticeably more comfortable than the conventional set up.
^^^ This. You will have to get a full size plate holder and then shorten it yourself by cutting a section out of the middle and then bond it together again, in effect a 'cut n shut', mount said holder using bolts/ty wraps and then insert your plate into holder. Its a bit of a faff, but...
Thanks for the update gents. Yes I have fallen victim to it too, shame I am not as computer savy as the rest of the squad on here! I know the old adage 'if it's too good to be true, it probably is', however (for me at least) it didn't scream that, it was a reduced item at a good price, not an...
Now that is subjective and depends on your view of good value. To the right buyer of course, however I think you would be doing well to achieve around the £800-£1k mark. Plenty of dateless plates (3x3) for £1K.
Unfortunately not a follower of the sport!:p There seem to be a few members from our neck of the woods and surrounding areas, hopefully may be able to get a meet this year organised!
Any pics of your motor??
Thanks a million! Just stumbled on this thread and was toying with buying another PW. Ordered one :p Still another 8 mins to go! For some reason it defaults to 249 euros at checkout, from £216.50 (obv the exchange).
Hope it is as good as they reckon!
Have purchased and sold many cherished numbers via websites and diy. Websites do not charge you anything for selling them, you request them to advertise it for your desired amount, they will add their commission/mark up and advertise it for sale. Reg transfers normally put a 20% mark up at...
TBH I have no idea, but the fact it has happened to both the ML & CLS, I am going to go with the cameras. Mine are both hardwired in, I believe to the overhead control panel. I have tried fitting a ferrous core around the cable going to the dash cam, but it there is not enough exposed cable to...
When I had mine installed professionally, both front and rear cams, the installer told me it may affect my DAB. Needless to say, he was right.
Have BV dash cams fitted to the cars and both DAB radios are now useless!!
Congrats thus far. I do agree with you on the wood trim, will be easy enough to source the 'carbon fibre' trim that adorns most f the 43s of this era.
Just noticed you are only up the road from me so hopefully may get to see it at some point at a meet. Mine is a 99 one too, albeit in black.
Front bumper wont work @regbuser due to the DRLs being housed in the headlight on the FL, whereas they are housed in the front bumper on the pre FL. Unless you are going to change the headlight assemblies and potentially coding as well, which is mega £££!
Rear is a direct swap, except there are...
