Had the exact same problem on a 2010 E200 CDI, only when cold, sounds like a rattle / belt squeak, got worse over time but always stopped after about 1 minute , often had people in car parks saying “your car sounds sick mate” in with dealer 3 times and they never found the issue

Hey All, So, the update it, the mechanic while driving was able to recreate the fault, Looks like the tranny is coming out for inspection and possibly a TCU / Valve (?) replacement, up to 7 days in dealership!, I am happy they didn't fob me off and are taking it seriously

Shot in the dark here - Had a similar problem in a 2010 W212, Turned out the temperature sensor in the passenger footwell was damaged and was misreading the car internal temperature for that side, sensor replaced and VOILA! Icy cold everywhere!
