That tool looks like it might make it easier. The post on the Mercedes Shop forum is slightly newer and from reading the starter is under the battery tray on that model. Mine is on the other side of the engine but thanks!
I've been trawling those forums also to no avail.
I bought a replacement starter motor some time ago but have only got around to fitting it. I am rebuilding the carb at the moment so this was already off so that access is a little easier.
I am struggling to get the bugger out!
Can anyone give me any tips?
Thanks in advance.
I've had the Orange M3100 SPV since it was released in August last year and I'm going to sell it as it is unstable and slow. Battery life is a joke. Before that I had an Orange M500 SPV and had similar issues.
I considered the Pearl but was not impressed with the build quality and found the...
Cut the plastic block connector off and solder some square spade connectors on to the wires. These then simply slide over the connections on the bulb but make sure you get them the right way round!
If you're not confident with electrics just take it to a local garage and ask them to repair...
The car ran fine and without any problems yesterday and I did about 150 miles. The only thing that I can think of was that just before it went into the garage I decided to remove the air filter, give it a clean and put it back in. It has probably only been in there for about 10 months.
Car went in the garage first thing this morning. They called 2hrs later and said that all seems ok and that the smoke/oil issue was ok too (maybe a temp thing).
It still has the problem of stalling but they cannot replicate the issue in the garage. They are going to try again but apart from...
Sorry to wake up an old thread but the problem has come back to haunt me!
It was ok for a while and then last week the same started to happen again. I left the car for a day or so and just used it today and it happened again on the M40 into London!
I'm back home, have checked that nothing...
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I checked today and it seems that one end of the small hose that runs from the top of the engine to the pipe that comes into the MAF had popped off at the MAF end. Could this be the cause?
For the last 2 days my w202 has been running a little like a bag of poop. It starts a little rough in the morning but when it gets warmed up it's ok.
However, driving locally seems ok but if I drive down the M4 for about 30 mins into London, when I get to a set of lights of start...
I saw these but had to watch them again. Shame about the car but I think it was brilliant! Just goes to show how reliable, robust, etc etc the oldies are.
Would still buy one over a newer one any day.
Thanks for the post!
The stamp duty price changes over £150k, so for example the house could be sold privately for £149,999 and the remaining balance could be paid for "fixtures and fittings" although I would very strongly advise that you go via a solicitor to ensure that these ammounts are paid as agreed.
Had a great time and it was really nice to put some names to faces. Some really good looking cars and sorry for not getting round to meet/talk to everyone!
I have some pictures will I'll post a little later on.
P.S Maff, what a beast of a car!!!!!
I just purchased a K&N Bolt on Kit for my W115. It arrived this morning but i'll be buggered if I can figure out how to fit it.
On the carb, the input pipe from the air filter is oval shaped. The base of the K&N has a round shaped hole with two or three very small holes...
I must admit I don't think the belt is as tight as it should be but assuming it is ok how would I got about testing the alternator (forgive me ignorance)?
I have also read somewhere that this model has some kind of booster. I've not idea what it does but maybe someone could shed some more...
I think I have found another problem with my recently aquired W115.
With the engine switched off the battery registers about 12.2v using a multimeter over the terminals. With the engine started it registers 12.5v.
I have a feeling this is not right as it should be showing...
