    MOT and xenon lights

I’m sure that others have come across this. Our E350 convertible went for an MOT; a few days later we noticed that the headlights were lighting up the sky and we were being flashed by oncoming cars. It transpires that the MOT tester probably adjusted the lights via the adjusting screws and this...

    Headlight level sensors

Ok. I’ve found them now. One is to the front of the right hand front wheel and the other is located to the top of the rear left wheel.

    Headlight level sensors

can someone tell me where I can find the headlight level sensors on the front and rear axles of my 2010 e class convertible. I have searched and am confused as to where exactly they are. At the moment, headlights appear too high so I suspect that the rear sensor may have failed.

    Cabriolet Fabric Roof Protection

Are you sure that the drainage channels are clear? There are very small drains running within the rubber seal on the front pillar. I checked mine were clear by pushing a narrow stiff wire down them. Before this I was getting the same problem with water dripping onto front of seat squab. Used...

E350 Cab Aircap Will not Retract

Since having it fixed (software issue) I have not used it much. I find that I'd does not seem to make much difference up or down!

    P0171 & P0174 codes on E350 CGI

Update:- dipstick was not the only problem. Following on I was still getting occasional P0171 /P0174 codes. After full diagnosis found that there was a hole in the pipe serving the purge valve which was only obvious when purge valve was open.

    P0171 & P0174 codes on E350 CGI

Solved. It was the O ring on dipstick.

M156 Dipstick Popping / PCV Valve

Think I have solved the P0171 P0174 codes with a new O ring on the dipstick.

M156 Dipstick Popping / PCV Valve

Interesting. I have a E350 cgi that occasionally throws P0171 and P0174 codes (lean running). Having checked for air leaks, replaced MAF etc. I noticed that dipstick was not seating properly. Could this cause sufficient vacumn leak to occasionally throw a code? I have secured dipstick with...

E350 Cab Aircap Will not Retract

If you have a current warranty then I guess it would be. I would certainly expect it to be covered.

E350 Cab Aircap Will not Retract

It would have been a main dealer in Bristol. I did not get involved in the details as I was buying the car and it had to be sorted before I parted with the money. However I understand it was software specific to the air cap / hood. The Bristol dealer seemed to know about the problem.

E350 Cab Aircap Will not Retract

Mine needed a software update / reboot to be undertaken by main dealer to sort out.....apparently £90 cost (I was not paying). I gather faulty software is a common issue.

    P0171 & P0174 codes on E350 CGI

Does anyone have any model specific pointers as to what to look for on a 2010 E350 petrol throwing P0171 & P0174 codes? I am assuming an air leak is the most obvious fault? I can see nothing obvious but it is difficult to look at the back of the engine.

E350 Cab Aircap Will not Retract

Another update. After further testing, and some prompting, main dealer has now found out that the mechanism was not at fault and that the problem lay with the software. They replaced the software and now the Aircap work perfectly.

E350 Cab Aircap Will not Retract

I have now been told that something has failed and that parts need to be ordered for repairs by main dealer. I have also found out that a friend experienced a similar problem with the Aircap on his car and it cost him £1,200 to get it sorted.

E350 Cab Aircap Will not Retract

Are problems with aircap common? I am looking to buy an E350 Cab. At present the aircap won't operate and the dealer has to sort this out before I complete the purchase. Is it just a software issue or is there something mechanical at fault?

    Shell Nitro

I have to disagree from personal experience as in my previous posting. I have seen a definite significant increase in mpg from 40mpg to around 45-48mpg since using a couple of tanks of Nitro Diesel and an improvement in smoothness and performance. My car has 95,000 on the clock and I put it...

    Shell Nitro

Well something has changed after using Nitro Diesel....... Usually my C270 averages 40mpg but since using a couple of tanks of Nitro, I am now getting 45-48mpg (calculated from brimming tank). Also engine feels smoother and much more responsive. Could be due to other factors but as the...

    C220 cdi pressure problems

I had problem like this.....took me ages to find the problem, a split in the rubber intercooler pipe. Split was not readily visible and was missed by mechanics on 2 seperate visits to garages.

Best MPG for you and your car?

I can get the computer in my C270 auto to show 60mpg on a trip but the most miles I have ever got from a tank is about 500 which equates to about 45mpg calculated. Normal mpg calculated manually on refilling tank usually around 40mpg On my car anyway, it seems that the computer overreads...
