Actually the key does open it after a good soak in WD40.... Looks like I have some broken wiring around the boot hinge but haven’t found exactly which wires. Need to trace the number plate lamps, the 3rd brake light and the boot opener. Could be the earth but all the other electrics work

Sat in a school car park in my 2008 CLS, after doing a couple of hundred miles today and SNAP front offside suspension spring snaps! No warning just BANG. Has this happened to anyone else and is it easy to fix?

My 320 cdi CLS had a new turbo at the same mileage for the same problem. It was the boost control valve unit but this was apparently part of the whole turbo unit so cost the previous owner a grand in parts alone. I suspect someone will Know how to fix these control units without that expense!

Mbenz1 you were spot on! Some anti bacterial disinfectant going in which should cure it. Amazing that the smell is so intense too and without your help I would be looking at the cats and over fueling etc.....cheers

Yes it's a CLS and the arrangement is the same and I've been using the screen wash just as I come off the motorway. Must be some anti bacterial fluid in the cleaning cupboard!

My 320 CDI has developed a smell not unlike a catalytic converter bad egg whiff, generally after a longish run. Seems like it comes through the air vents because if I switch the climate control off it goes away. And no I've not eaten sprout and egg curry! I suspect diesel is hitting the cat...

Had the same problem which has gone for now. Hooked to the STAR and it came up with MAF out of limits and lamda sensor bank 1 failure. The garage said this could mean anything and were puzzled no lights on. So before they do a full pull it off, replace and see if it makes a diference use some...

How's this for a picky CLS. Travelling to and from Cornwall for the Christmas break. Power loss (will get it checked on STAR) on the A30 yet fine on the M5 -either way! Doesn't like being 110 miles from home?!?! My OBD says lamda sensor.....

Just fiddling with the service indicator and I see that there are several service items listed e.g. Service item 1. My question is what are these items and does anyone have a list of number to what it actually is? I take it, it is things like fuel filter, fluids etc Thanks

Easy on a 203 as there is a dipstick tube just no dipstick. It shows you in the Haynes manual and I did it on my several times. Used a Screwfix/sealey version which has a 6 liter capacity. Have to do it twice now I have a CLS! As for sludge, the main reason we will all do this is to do more all...

How long have I had this car and never knew about cornering lights.....as Homer Simpson would say DOH!

Odd one this. If I have my headlight switch in Auto mode the lights come on normally but it also randomly turns on the left, right or both front fog lights. If I manually switch the lights on all is fine. Any ideas?
