Seat back pocket DIY repair, CLS and others

Hi all, after finding a few hints on carrying out this repair I though I would take a few pics as I went to help others. As Im usually useless at diy stuff like this I figured this thread would give others like me confidence to carry out what is a very simple job to rectify what must be a common...

    W124 500E - put a deposit down.

Sorry I can't help much with the faults you have but congrats on the car! Man alive that is lovely. Such a capable classic car. If I could convince the wife I would trade the cls and use one daily! What I would spend extra in fuel would be offset by zero depreciation... Win!:thumb:

Should i get an Oil service?

My last mercedes, a 2008 c200 cdi was definitely a "little" more vocal when cold, but it was just deisel knock so not a rattle just more harsh sounding. Drove it from 26k to 37k miles. Oil changes never made any difference with mine. I will be trying millers in the CLS though. Is it worth using...

Viewed a nice W211 Facelift - not bad apart from being flooded with oil

Check if it's not a "belt conditioner" product that's been used. I had a squeeling belt on a Range Rover once and unloaded a dose of the canned spray on it. It didn't stop the noise and the belt sprayed the product over the whole front of the engine making a nasty, black, sticky mess! Just a...

The ultimate Mercedes purchase experience: how to lose a deal.

+1 can't fault them, sales guy this time was a little short on technical knowledge but he had not long started with Mercedes and I prob ask more involved tech questions than most coz I'm a geek:D

Talk to me about Vivaro's please ?

Used in building trade. They drive very well, 2.0 is very nice. Currently two are great with a few sensor faults but the other is a pig with constant issues but they are cheap! Worst van we ever had was a new T5 130hp. So glad it was in warranty, over 35k miles it had about £4000 worth of...

Will You Put Your Hand Up To A Stupid Moment?

Had my Dad over today and was telling me about the car he had just bought. During the process of handing the car over after the deal was done my father noticed there was no spare wheel in the boot! After raising this with the sales man he was informed that it probably didn't even have a spare...

Old v New Steering Wheel Design

I like the look of the post 2010ish wheel, never used on enough to comment on its function but I didn't like the look of the early w204 one much, I liked the late w203 one better especially in sport with the silver buttons, felt better made IMO

How to use a Classic Mercedes

Love the driving skills! Piloting that type of car at those speeds is an art. Non Merc I'm afraid but this is worth a watch if you've not seen it before http://youtu.be/JTGvHskGKI4 epic!

    5k family classic?

Another vote for 944. Below is mine, my kids love going out in it because of the little bucket seats in the back and most of all the lights pop up!!!

Do you manually change gears with your auto transmission?

Never admitted this before but if I have really cleaned the living you know what out of mine I use the down shift to make the most of engine braking, thus minimising brake dust!:o No! Really......:D

    What the Heck......

This car is local to me and I see it from time to time on the commute. When it comes up behind you it looks insane but from any other angle it doesn't quite work to my eye, it just doesn't flow well with the rest of the car. Might look better on bigger wheels

C220 CDi Or C250 CDI - Advice please

Interesting! The only model I've driven much was a brand new (64) 177 FWD black ed, I though it was pretty quick, at least a very smooth power curve almost petrol like, but torque steer was bad and whatever tyres it had were shockingly intrusive! Like you say, must be the tyres! Anyway off...
