    Rear subframe corrosion - UK

I believe that this problem can occur with any vehicle in the range that has pressed steel used for the subframe rather than the aluminium subframes previously used. I'm happy to be contradicted on this.

    Rear subframe corrosion - UK

Mercedes Farnborough have inspected the vehicle and submitted a claim to Mercedes Germany seemingly bypassing Mercedes UK. Just heard that the claim has been accepted and it's now awaiting parts. I've also just requested a courtesy car from Mercedes UK, pigs might fly but you never know!

    Rear subframe corrosion - UK

I'm reading this with a great deal of interest and some trepidation. My 2011 reg W212 has just failed it's MOT because of a corrosion hole in the subframe forward arm mount. Mercedes in Hampshire have agreed to look at it next week and I'm desperately hoping for a goodwill gesture on their...

For caravanners' eyes only - we're getting a new one!!

Off the top of my head if you've passed your test prior to January 1st 1997 you are entitled to tow a trailer with a combined weight with the towing vehicle in excess of 3500 kg. If your test was after that date then a further test must be taken to give permission to tow B+E category vehicles...

For caravanners' eyes only - we're getting a new one!!

Just came across this thread, very interesting with just a small sprinkling of the usual anti-caravan bias. We towed a folding camper (Dandy) for many years, My eldest daughter thinks that 5 people in a folder should be classed as a form of child abuse! About 7 years ago I woke up in said camper...

Snow Foam - waste of time?

I used Autobrite Magifoam with their own lance adapted for Nilfisk yesterday and I'm very pleased with the results. The car had been treated with StarGuard as part of the purchase deal and it looked like new. Also used it on my wifes filthy Honda Jazz and the results were equally as good. I'm...

    Stop Start

I quite like this system (my wife hates it) but I'm a little perplexed when it applies to parking brake/ park selection option. Sometimes the engine stops and sometimes doesn't, I must be doing something wrong.

Are some people incapable of dealing with 50mph limits in narrow lanes?

Yep, done that one already, made a mental note to study train timetables as well as maps:D

Mobile phones & driving = a bad idea

It's the texting and internet stuff that really scares me. Only having just got my E220 the phone thing is a novelty (anything on the E220 is a novelty compared to my previous and rather agricultural Kia Sorento) but I would never attempt to dial out when on the move, so much concentration is lost.

Are some people incapable of dealing with 50mph limits in narrow lanes?

I live in Camberley and enter the London bound M3 at J3. Due to road widening schemes its 50mph average speed checks all the way to J2 which is the M25 junction. This week and last week I have seen the recent aftermath of 2 incidents involving multiple vehicles. The one last night had all 3...

    Software advice please

Solved The service manager at Basingstoke had a look and decided that a new cable might help. He chose a slightly different one and bingo! I now have my ipod music in the car! This will annoy my son no end and I shan't tell him where it's connected so he can't play his own rubbish;)

    Software advice please

Just bought a 2011 E Class W212 E2200 CDI from a Mercedes dealer last week and they gave me the cable to connect my ipod to a port in the armrest thingy. It failed to recognise my ipod first time, recognised the second time and it worked OK but subsequently has failed to work. I have read...

    Finally got round to it!

Thanks It certainly feels that it's in a different league compared with the Kia. Although I had years of great service from the Kia the kindest thing to say about it is that it felt somewhat agricultural!

    Finally got round to it!

After all these years of dreaming about driving a Merc I bit the bullet and on Wednesday I collected a 2011 E220 CDI form MB Basingstoke. It ticked all the boxes, after driving a Kia Sorento for 10 years you can imagine what it feels like. Sadly my wife spotted some chips/scuffs on the offside...
