Hi I had a similar problem with my 300SL last year and it turned out to be a faulty MAS Unit.... dealer wanted €800 for a new one, bought a second-hand one off someone on this site and it fixed the problem.

We've got them here in France now. I was caught ... average 101 kph in a 90 kph zone... in my Renault Kangoo (it's only just about capable of that speed!) find 60€ and 1 point on mt licence. grrrr!
