...and comparing a 305hp E90 that gets to 60 in 5 secs to a C220 or C250 isn't a fair comparison either...

I am simply saying the C220's and E220's are not slow...7 and a half seconds to 60 is plenty quick enough for most people. The price difference between a 220 and a 350 would more than likely be prohibitive for the OP.

The E39 535i was 'only' 235hp...so was quick, and sounded great, but wasn't epically fast. I had it for 2 years and did about 30k miles in it. £100 a week in fuel got very boring to be honest. Excellent car though, and there is nothing quite like a V8. Unless it's a V12 :-)

My C220 feels as quick as my 2001 E39 BMW 535i (which was a V8) did...the 0 to 60 times and top speed are identical...plus does twice the MPG. Sounds **** though...

Looks awesome mate, looks new again...the E55 is still no doubt better than most things coming off the production line today. I don't like the chrome on Merc's either...it's the only thing I don't like about my S205. Why do Merc throw shed loads of chrome at an AMG spec car?

I quite like my modern Merc...better than an effing Skoda or Lexus. I've not owned a classic Merc mind.

I have a Sept 2015 C220d estate AMG line with Premium Plus pack in Obsidian black. Fantastic car...fire away with any questions.

Or an E55k...love those, 7k isn't far off what you'd need. XJR or an S8 should be considered too.

CL500 or CL600 would take my 7k...lots of car for the money. You'd be looking at a 2000 ish model. I'd consider the XK too...lovely motor.

You might be in luck...those articles aren't specific on dates for the S and W205 but you never know!
