    Clicking dashboard - CLK500, W209

My CLK has started doing this occasionally also - so interesting to know what causes it - but I'll follow BaldGuy's suggestion and hope it gets better on its own - weirdly a few small electrical faults on mine have 'self fixed'!

    Fault Messages & Electrical Gremlins

Quick follow up on this The battery in my car failed so bought & fitted a replacement battery - and things seemed to have settled down i.e. car not reporting the ‘light sensor failed’ and ‘distronic not working’ messages anymore - everything working fine!

    Fault Messages & Electrical Gremlins

Various faults are being reported by my car (CLK 500 W209) A few of these faults are real, some are intermittent, others where there doesn’t seem to be a problem, for example · Real faults – rear number plate light not working – which it isn’t – but at least simple to fix ·...

Starting Problem with my CLK 500

I have got an intermittent starting problem with my CLK 500 This morning after a short drive the car refused to start – the engine turned over OK but would not start I called the AA who arrived about 30 minutes later and (guess what!) it started first time for him. The AA man connected up his...

    CLK W209 Headlight adjustment

"Apparently the risk is breaking the lever - a dealer may do it for you FOC" "Yes, IIRC Brian WH had his lever broken for him FOC by the stealership" Reading my post back I see what you mean - but it is good the services that some dealers offer FOC - cheered me up enough to face Friday afternoon

    CLK W209 Headlight adjustment

I found this on the forum when I had this question a while ago ... "You need to look at the back of the light unit which has the yellow warning traingle on it. you should find this unit inside your light housing so you may need to unscrew the cover. it will pop off by hand after a quarter...

Is that £60 from a dealer or should I try and find a local garage or independent who will do it?

Help Please - Problem with Door Lock

Re the first point - The door appears locked from the outside - i.e. the pop up button is down - when I pull the door handle the door swings open but the pop button remains down (i.e. like its locked) so it appears the door catch mechanism is not engaging with the latch on the b pillar. (To...

Help Please - Problem with Door Lock

Thanks for the response I think I should have been clearer about the first point - the locking button does not pop up as it normally would i.e. when the keyless go activates I have looked at the lock / catch mechanism and its possible to move it by hand so it can go into a locked position -...

Help Please - Problem with Door Lock

The driver’s door lock has failed on my CLK (w209) – the symptoms are: 1) When the locking button is down the door just opens when you pull on the handle. 2) If you get it and pull the door closed is does not catch – i.e. if you push against it with your hand it swings open...

    04 E55

I have owned both BMWs and Mercedes and down here in leafy Sussex I have found the local BMW dealer to be much better than the local MB dealer. However I bought my car from the MB dealer in Croydon who was/is very professional and I would certainly use them again. So probably worth finding out...

Something from Honest Johns Car Reviews

I noticed the following comment in the ‘What to Look Out For’ section on Honest John for CLKs, E and C Class “Two other well known faults which might cause expensive damage are failure of the oil seals to the wiring looms from the top of the cam cover and to the autobox which is...

    CLK W209 Buying Advice

Hi there I bought a W209 CLK500 about 10 months ago and it excellent The one major problem I had was a radiator fault causing water to leak into the ATF and then into the auto box (the ATF cooler is built into the radiator) – this can damage the auto box. This is a known...

    CLK 500 consumption

Hi there - I've had my CLK 500 for about 5 months - the overall average is 23.5mpg - I don't make any particular effort to drive it economically On a motorway run it easily gets up to 28mpg - which as others have said is pretty amazing for a 5.0 V8. In the distant past I has a couple of Jags -...

Problem with CLK500 and Used Car Warranty

Thanks Mr E for your response - sounds like going to Rivervale could be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire - maybe I will try and get to speak to someone more senior at MB Brighton on Monday to see if I can get any results that way.

Problem with CLK500 and Used Car Warranty

I called MB Used Car Warranty who were very efficient, had all the details of the warranty and were surprised at the time it is taking for the dealer to get anything sorted out. Meanwhile left numerous messages at the dealer - Mercedes Benz Brighton - none of which were returned - Eventually...
