    MOT time!

Not all MOT testers are the same. Some fail for the slightest discrepancy while others are more forgiving. The art is to find the second type of tester, which is the real challenge.

    Thai cave rescue

The lesson for the day is... ...if it starts bucketting down cats and dogs, don't go taking shelter in a cave system. One thing this incident demonstrates, and that is it required international cooperation, bringing in the best skills from around the world. There is no such thing as insular...

Which part of 'No Hot Ashes' did you not understand...?

Ahh, but was 'No HOT Ashes' written in Polish, Hungarian, Welsh, Spanish, French, Arabic and every other language that seems to appear on all sorts of packaging these days?

    Argos shenanigans

Listening to Radio 2 can be quite interesting. Apparently, 40% of a company's workforce does 100% of the work, while the other 60% sit around doing nothing productive. The bigger the workforce, the more people sat around doing nothing. The poor sods who suffer when a company fails are those who...

    Mice under the bonnet Arghhhh!

Try Cayenne pepper. Rodents hate the smell of this and it can burn their little noses if they sniff too close. Garlic is another plant that drives them away. Anyone who has ever handled a hot pepper knows that we wear gloves when handling them, or suffer the burning sensation when we...

Hiding your number plate when posting photos online

It becomes even worse if you blank out a registration plate that has a custom registration. After all, why go to the expense of spelling your name out on the registration plate only to blank it out when posting photos of your cherished registration to an online forum.

    Dirty Den Dead!

He's always looked ill, even when he was healthy. What was the name of that game show he hosted? Fort Boyard wasn't it? My eyes were firmly set on Melinda Messenger. I won't say what part of Melinda they were set on though.

    Is 2 litres enough?

Ahhh, but I never said that they didn't deserve it. ;)

    Is 2 litres enough?

I live in the heart of the Fens, which is farming country, so it's easy to get blown away by a farmer in an Aston or Masserati, or even a Tesla. ;) (and they say there is no money in farming? you could have fooled me.)

    Is 2 litres enough?

Yes, but knowing that it is half a second faster is all that most of us would need to know. If we are buying a car to be a sports car, rather than pure luxury or practicality, then knowing it's faster than the Audi or BMW parked in the next driveway is all important to the ego. Whether we use...

    Is 2 litres enough?

When I test drove the SLK350, the salesman tried to get me to sign up for the SLK300 but I wasn't interested. His argument was that the 300 was only marginally slower than the 350, whereas my argument was that the 350 was marginally faster than the 300. If I'd followed his thought process, I...

    Another....,

I think the legendary status comes from the fact that he was famous for exactly that reason.

    Too Much Oil

If the dealer had taken the car for a proper run before handing the car back to the OP, they would have probably spotted this message themselves. I had to top up my expansion tank after a service once because there was still an air bubble somewhere in the cooling system that hadn't been purged...

    Number plate spacing?

I guy I used to work with, called Karl Suter, bought the plate K90 TER, then modifed it to read K SUTER. Then one evening, he pulled up with cardboard reading K90 TER where his plates should be. These days it is even harder to have an incorrect plate due to ANPR being just about everywhere...

    Is 2 litres enough?

I know what you mean. When I had the CLK500 I test drove a SLK350 and found it handled loads better than its bigger sister. The CLK was the traditional Mercedes ride, whereas the SLK was set up for the more sportier ride. Then again, look at all those American muscle cars, and the Vauxhall...

    Absolute scum

This is not the first time that a pensioner who fought for our freedom during the last great war was attacked by a scumbag thinking they had the right to take whatever they wanted without earning it. Quite a few years back, a Polish pensioner was beaten to death for the cash in his wallet...

    Is 2 litres enough?

The exceptions, of course, included BMW M3s (not one that cuts out or catches fire), Audi S Line specials (not those wannabe fast cars that take 12 seconds to reach sixty) and Ford Mondeos/Vauxhall Insignias. There's nothing worse than being tailgated by one of these cars, especially if the...

    Is 2 litres enough?

I used to think that 2 was ample, but have discovered that more is better. My Sierra 2.0GL was trumped by the 2.9l XR4x4, and my 2.1 C220 was trumped by the 3.0 CLS350. For some reason, I seem to go through the frugal stage then think, 'What the hell!', and buy something more tasty.

    Okay, some one tell me..

How long ago was it that diesel peaked at just under £1.50 a litre? And if I remember, there was an inquiry because every time the price of crude went up, so did the pump prices, but when crude went down, the pump prices stayed up, making the margin between the price of crude and the pump price...

Who remembers the old Forum format....................?

I remember the last change, and all those people complaining. If it was a new car they were getting, they'd soon be over the moon.
