Repair with JB Weld - mould release coat?

The spec info/manufacturers data supplied with those tapes should give you an indication as to if they are applicable/up to the job of securing badges or trim items securely. Unfortunately I do not have the spec sheets/info for those particular tapes to hand. I can only vouch for 3M 06384...

Repair with JB Weld - mould release coat?

I think I see what you are trying to do. Instead of going to the bother of moulding, instead you could ...... 1. Remove/grind off the pins on the Black badge, remove/grind off the surface detail on your existing bonnet badge, then bond the Black badge on top of your existing bonnet badge...

Repair with JB Weld - mould release coat?

If you are casting epoxy resin components in a silicone rubber mould, you will not need any kind of release agent. Silicone rubber is (should) be self releasing when used with epoxy (it will wear out and deteriorate after time though, after multiple castings). The silicone release spray is...

C204 Boot not opening when popped

My boot lid opened fine, until I added my own Carbon lip spoiler, it was a bit reluctant to open fully with that on until I put a bit of tension on the springs. Follow my pics in the thread link above, it really is pretty easy to sort out. :thumb: :)

C204 Boot not opening when popped

Hinges/pivot points could be a little dry or sticky? Put a bit of oil on them to free them up. Or put a little more tension on the opening springs, link below (go to second page for pics). http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/bodywork/216021-how-far-should-remote-boot-release-open-boot-w209.html...

A Permanent Badge Fixing Solution- Advice Req'd

I have used this in the past: 3M Acrylic Double Sided Tape, code No. 06384. It's specifically designed for the automotive industry for the attachment of external body panels, trim, mouldings, spoilers, badges etc etc. It's weatherproof and I manufactured my own Carbon Fibre bootlid spoiler...

    W204 rear diffuser

You could of used a standard black plastic one from a C350, they are only about £65 including VAT, brand new from a dealer. Mind you that would give you twin exhaust cutouts only (one exhaust pipe each side of the vehicle) and not larger cutouts for quad exhausts like the C63 with two exhaust...

    W204 rear diffuser

Something else that should be taken into consideration when buying carbon fibre components (certainly cosmetic or highly visual bare carbon components) is that they ideally should have some degree of UV resistance, this can vary from one type of carbon to another, depending on the resin system...

The Grand Tour - will you be watching?

Depends .... If you have a 'Smart TV' you will not need a Fire TV Stick, connect straight to Amazon Prime through the TV. I have decided to go for Amazon Prime deal of £59 (I have spent an awful lot more money on lesser things in the past, to be honest ....!) mainly to watch...

    Norfolk can be exotic

There used to be a dealership for those in North Walsham, not far from the North Norfolk Coast, a few years back. Quite apt really!

    Norfolk can be exotic

I'm from Norfolk, was out for a drive today in Gorleston (on the coast next to Gt. Yarmouth) and long story short, saw a Lamborghini Murcielago being driven through the town centre which then stopped in a pub car park. I pulled into the pub car park a few minutes later and started chatting with...

How far should remote boot release open boot? W209

Thanks Mike, just had a look and repositioned mine, something nice and easy to sort out for a change! Took a few pics too, mine is the W204 so not all will be the same obviously, I would imagine some are similar though. If anyone is interested here you go: The black plastic clip (near the...

How far should remote boot release open boot? W209

Possibly, in the same way the weight of the carbon one affected the opening of mine.

    Project C63 Black Series Wing

If it's the type that is mounted on two vertical struts, I am not too sure how many you would sell (you will probably sell a few at least though, I guess). Simple reason is that you have to drill and bolt it through a perfectly good boot lid, not everyone would want to start whizzing holes...

How far should remote boot release open boot? W209

Mine used to open all the way (W204 Coupe) until I added a carbon fibre boot lip spoiler, now just opens slightly. Obviously the added weight affects things. Anybody know if the W204's tension can be adjusted too? Wouldn't mind it opening all the way again. Trivial in the whole scheme of things...

My one-off carbon spoiler and diffuser.

Been toying with the idea of fitting a carbon spoiler and diffuser for a while, but heard and read mixed opinions of some commercially available ones regarding fit and quality. Because of that, I decided to make my own, which is not quite as daft as it may sound at first because I am a carbon...
