Pulled it apart and sure enough the brushes are shot. They are 5 x 6 mm ( not sure of length but will trim new ones to size). Ordered brushes from the usual Chinese source and will get back to the forum when they arrive with a full photo extravaganza! Cheers R

Mine's stuck in the middle fornuately so I'll be able to access both ends hopefully. I read somewhere that someone removed the rear bolts and tipped the whole seat forwards to access motors, so possibly you could do it the other way giving access to the inner bolt holding seat cushion and work...

Thank you all for your replies. One question. Is it possible to change the electrical connector complete with O-rings without either draining box or losing gallons of fluid over the floor? Cheapest option for me at the moment... BTW @Justintyme the dipstick clip is Red. RRRRR

Hi Auto box weeping from said connector. Can I just drain box, replace connector and refill to correct level or should I remove sump and replace filter as a matter of course, running risk of snapped bolts and stuff...? Only done about 75000 miles. Cheers R

Hi CLK 230 K 1999 electric driver's seat issues.... everything works fine except front/back function (including automatic forward to ease access to rear seats). Control unit clicks when switch operated but no movement. I assume that this means it is either the front/back motor (fuses are intact)...

Just to finish off, I changed the battery, failing miserably to keep some power in the system in order to save radio codes, window and seat memory etcs and , amazingly , I have had to reset nothing at all - all seems fine. Cheers R
