Odd rim size tyre question (8/18/et37

OK for info, if anyone is interested. I went for a set of Hankook Ventus ST 285/55/18 R 113 V tyres. on the above mentioned wheels. No rubbing issues at all, they fill the arches very nicely, and are surprisingly quiet even with the window open. The ML remains 'flat' on the fast twisty roads...

Odd rim size tyre question (8/18/et37

Calling tyre Gurus, please HELP!!! Currently the above mentioned alloys are at the paint shop, but... I'm at a loss as to what tyres to mount. The old hardly used 255s could go back on, but if possible I'd prefer some new rubber. On my ML320 I have 275/55/17 quite like the foot print. Does...

Odd rim size tyre question (8/18/et37

Cheers, they are clearly aftermarket, as I can't find this spec' with a 37 offset ever fitted to any Mercedes, unless one of the unspecified Brabus type conversions, and yet they fit just fine. There are various numbers embossed on the spokes, I'll try to check further. # A215 400 002 # 01 B...

Odd rim size tyre question (8/18/et37

I have a spare set of wheels that I know fit the ML320/W163 as it was delivered with them on (happy). 255/55/18 However I'm now running 275/55/17 on a set of MB appropriate alloys. Question, whilst restoring the 8/18/h2/et37; what tyres could be fitted? Having lived with 275 I do not...

    Grammer and Spelling

I can not vote in the Poll because, there is not an option for someone such as I. I don't agree with this txt speak slang, however it has a place in a modern evolving language such as English, providing the participants know, or, are taught the full versions of LMFHO.

    Woefully Wooly

Howdy Pondman, I'm only replying because of post #2 above. ;) Experience, 35 years owning and driving countless cars. Advice, it all depends on how you drive, and what you drive and where you drive it. All cars have adequate brakes from the factory, TUV tested etc etc. Customizing...

    M104 optimum running temperature

I can't count how many cars I have owned, but all of them when having a temp gauge with numbers run at 80 mid point or just mid point when no numbers present. As per usual check the thermostat opening point in a controlled kitchen environment with thermometer. If you are seriously worried...

    Boot Lid Model Badges -W211- E320 - 2009my

I'm proud to now own an ML320 and don't mind telling the guy behind me what it is. :) (they are as rare as hens teeth over here). But I do strongly object when a garage or dealership 'any' adds their name and phone number to the paintwork. Grrrrrrr! :(

    Large Scratch DIY Repair

Good job on the paint transfer removal. :) Well done. Good question Fabes, the reverse sensors on my ML seem to be set for Nuclear Submarine detection and fire off for anything within about 20 yards, rendering them useless to me. (unless reversing down by the old Sub Pens). ;)

Sweet! I'm itching to DA the ML320 and then Collinite, but I'm outside and the weather is grim.

    VIN decode

Check out carinfo.kiev.ua OK, so worrying to go to a Russian site, but the decode actually works. Copy/paste the results back into a doc file and for peace of mind have your AV and Antimalware Nuke it. Worked for me. Even found that I have a hidden safe that I wouldn't have looked for!

    Bit optimistic?

Yup the French 'Controle Technique' is valid for 2 years, but if this car is bought by a UK buyer then it does not count as the car will have to be legally imported with a fresh UK MOT as part of the process. FWIW, French S/H prices are ridiculously high, eg, my 2000 ML320 goes for around 4X...

    Insurance companies.......

I'll guess that part of the problem with UK insurance prices are the last 5 or 6 years of Flood Claims, not all of which may have been totally legit. Apparently I am covered in the event of a Nuclear Attack, with a zero excess, this is handy to know! ;)

My cynical thought as well Kenny. Still benefit of the doubt, good to see an honest driver.:)

    Insurance companies.......

@toffee, I too check online prices etc, but also check on guarantees, items covered, excesses, break down cover, etc etc and then Return to my insurer's office of 25 years and see if they can more or less match premiums. So far so good. I don't tend to like faceless systems for something as...

    W163 ML320 Accelerator Pedal Replacement

I reckon that this pedal should be classed as a service item in a similar manner to brake pads. My W163 ML320 had a nasty flat spot in the pivotal travel, causing either no acceleration, or Red Lights out acceleration once the flat spot had been moved through. Constant velocity was also...

Do i tell insurance, or not?

Yup, pay for it yourself, any insurance declaration that you make as 'your fault' is going to live on your record. Just explain to SWMBO that the next pair of shoes is on 'hold'.
