    Your biggest automotive regret?

The time I turned down a ~10yo e-type - for £200. Mind you, £200 was a lot of money 1980. It was wasn’t it? a lot of money - £200 - please say it was.

    Washer bottle top-up problem ...

Yes, it does seem so doesn’t it. The question is nothing to do with the screen washer per se, it is about competence in small things and implication for larger. See Matthew 25: 14-30.

    Washer bottle top-up problem ...

Thanks for that and no, the bill does not include screen wash. Conclusion is MB do not include fluid top-up as matter of course - and they aspire to a prestige marque .. hmm bit Mickey Mouse if you ask me.

    Washer bottle top-up problem ...

Hi,hitech My question is a slightly more nuanced than this, put plainly I’d like to know if Mercedes-Benz W/S manual requires system fluids to be topped up after repair. If the answer is no then I will be getting rid of mine as a matter of urgency - but I do need to know. My dealer, BTW, has...

    Washer bottle top-up problem ...

hi, I need some informed advice about a ‘washer bottle top-up’ issue with my W205. Eight days after paying £72.42 to replace a £0.42 ‘grommet’ to rectify a weak screen-wash problem, my car is prompting me to top-up the washer bottle. Now, I may be expecting to much but I’d have thought the...

    Interior Rattles

Have you tried scanning the cabin with a function generator? this may excite the offending buzz and help you locate it from the safety of your garage. I suggest Audio Function Generator Pro, £2 from the App Store, using iPad via the car audio through Bluetooth.

Any opinions about the CLC ?

No. This was a mistake and I do hope the OP does not feel disadvantaged by it. I had a W204 for 5 years and it did not put a foot wrong - excellent car in every way. Shame about 205 though. As a general point, I have similar data for B180. Do you think it would benefit the membership to have...

Any opinions about the CLC ?

The W205 is a lot noisier than W204 - a lot noisier - and there’s no factory approved repair. Take it for a long test drive and listen for a continuous drone - if you’re musically inclined it’s the A below middle C.

No more pit 'girls' in F1

Why can’t each country display their military, that would be good wouldn’t it - like Wimbledon but more variety!

No more pit 'girls' in F1

Would the larger dimension include the overt military presence at Wimbledon? I find this far more objectionable, what’s all that about?

‘How To’ investigate cabin noise using an iPad

No, I’ve not read the threads but I do know of the 205 wind-noise issues - can’t say I have that problem though. It’s tempting to think their hearing TCN but TCN really does sound nothing like wind. The vendor offered me ‘sound-proof’ windows but I knew enough to realise that would make...

‘How To’ investigate cabin noise using an iPad

Your recording looks good - but now you need to set up the display, then fine adjust for FFT ‘Snapshot’ or ‘full Spectrogram. So, this will set-up the display: Then this sets up a few other switches: Having set the display you can now set Analysis for Spectrogram: You should see something...

‘How To’ investigate cabin noise using an iPad

Whey... not so fast. I’d want to know more about that red line at the bottom. I’ll get back in the morning with display settings that will show the low-band Top marks for giving it a go though - I like that.

‘How To’ investigate cabin noise using an iPad

Ah..correction. I didn’t spot ‘display’ so, yes you can zoom in at display time - but it doesn’t improve resolution so in reality it doesn’t actually help. I know what you mean though.

‘How To’ investigate cabin noise using an iPad

It’s certainly worth a try, but in theory no, it’s only affected by temperature, but then, my tyre pressures are same all round, one test I saw 2 peaks - when I reset pressures it went back to 1 peak. So yes, I think a closer look is indicated - perhaps Benz might look into it? . Yes, and I’d...

‘How To’ investigate cabin noise using an iPad

Unfortunately no, not with SpectrumView. This is actually why I specify the lowest sample rate available: 8000Hz. But it’s a good point.
