Do you like an engine to look good and a clean engine bay?

One other reason to in some way pay attention to the under bonnet area is the ability to actually open it! as others have mentioned cleaning lubing the catch is part of the task, I'm most concerned when buying a 2nd hand car if the bonnet release is awkward or jammed. My next door neighbour was...

Do you like an engine to look good and a clean engine bay?

By contrast, I bought a Boxster S and I took great delight when inspecting the engine (buried deep in the middle of the car) it had a lovely coating of dry even dust everywhere with finger prints on the air and oil filters, after three years it was sold on with the same dry dust and additional...

COVID-19 ... impact on death rates

While the additional death rate is the ultimate and most painful outcome of Covid, the negative impact on family life and society in the wider sense is huge. I see the change in my grandchildren already, with ages 2,3 and 6 the sudden change in social interactions and constant bombardment of...

Which driving mode is fuel Efficient ?

I agree with others MPG is more about how, when and indeed if you use the car rather than the setting S or C. Interestingly on throttle by wire cars the "Sport" button simply alters the ratio of pedal travel to throttle opening, IE the engine puts out no more power.

    S212 Rear air suspension problems

There are two probable paths for leaks, pipe work to outside air, a split or leak at a fitting or air bag and internal leak back route via valve block check valve reservoir etc. this last path, internal leak back will be much harder to pin point. If you are confident there are no external leaks...

Why I've never broken down in a Classic Mercedes (in 15 years)

I can only recall two failed to make it home trips both from the 90's. First was an exploding front wheel baring on a Granada during a bank holiday, AA man delivered car + caravan + family the 200 miles back to Scotland, I replaced wheel baring the following weekend for £9.00. The second was a...

Wow, I hope you mange to get this stopped, even just getting a string of follow-up calls or e-mails would tick me off. Over the past couple of years I have begun to provide wrong phone numbers old dead e-mail addresses on sites that I feel have no direct need to make contact, your post just...

Tell us about your first fast car experiences

My first experience of something fast was probably late 60's crouched in or on the back of an Alpha Spider that was pushed to the ton, a friend of my brothers fitted car radios as a side line back then so with three up he gave it full beans to see if we could still hear Jimmy Young! More...

BBC Panorama - Spying on the Scammers

For what it's worth, we are now going to get rid of our house phone and only use mobile and broadband, not only will this save a couple of hundred £ a year but this action will reduce significantly the number of nuisance calls, and any that come via my mobile can be easily blocked. Two other...

MOT tests in NI suspended with immediate effect

Many sites here in UK don't have a pit, it's common to use a two or four post lift, and with complex suspension modern lifts also incorporate shaker plates so the suspension can be tested under load conditions for signs of wear.
