Mercedes A Class W176 Exhaust Flap

PM me your reg or vin and i''l get back to you with a price tomorrow, assuming your mechanic has correctly diagnosed it. I would still advise checking with local MB specialists first as manchester and middlesbrough are opposite sides of the country.

Mercedes A Class W176 Exhaust Flap

Dude... Chill. Tell your mechanic to price the bits up and just crack on, its probably not as bad as you think. Unless your car is an absolute wreck I cant imagine it being 'not worth it'. If you want to save the money, DIY it. If you can't DIY it, then just accept the quote from your local garage.

7g transmission failure rates C250 Bluetec

Buy and fit a used replacement gearbox, have them swap over your control unit while replacing filter etc before filling it. That's surely going to be more cost effective. But back to the original question..... No, it's not that common. These gearboxes do ask for more regular servicing than other...

W203 class central looking will not work, although car can start and drive with the key fob. What part needs replaced.. any help appreciated.

check the fuses in the boot, there is one (7.5amp) that covers the RF antenna signal amplifier that also powers other things, sometimes blows due to a faulty alarm siren.

    Urgent - Advice needed

again, without pics it's hard to say, but sounds like it could be a noise generator (fake exhaust noise), they are sometimes fitted in the boot and have fat aluminium pipes.

    Hello!

I simply ignored it at first, used to drive the car hard and thought the oil i was using was not up to the job. performed a service, changed oil brand from VW's quantum to shell helix ultra, next day it did it again, only this time it kept doing it and the noise was more persistent and localised...

    Who uses ‘V-Power Diesel’....

Just to be clear, I just wanted to put my side forward regarding my car not liking “v-power” diesel. Every single time I have used it, I have got noticeably less miles per tank. That and being more expensive to buy means I won’t use it any more. It’s a no brainer for me. every engine is...

    Who uses ‘V-Power Diesel’....

About 60ml usually to 43l of fuel. Tried that cetane booster but I couldn’t tell any difference and it smelt awful, so didn’t want to deal with it again. Stuff I tried was NBS-LAKI I believe, normally used for boosting cetane numbers in home brew bio-fuel. It smells like rotten fish.

    Who uses ‘V-Power Diesel’....

My daily car has for last 2 years been very economical (almost 80mpg average) 3 cylinder polo 1.4tdi. I do 3 days of 15 miles there 15 miles back, and 3 days of 50 miles there 50 miles back. I use shell only because it's always on my route. I get 630 miles per tank normally using the standard...

    OM651 Vacuum Fault

that sounds real dodgy. it may of had some software 'adjustments' to hide a fault. if it has the twin turbo setup it may just be running on the other possibly? I would get it looked over by a merc specialist. also check it still has a DPF.

Mercedes A Class W176 Exhaust Flap

Hi. answers are: yes, yes, and yes. the clamp makes a good gas-tight seal as used on various cars from the factory. most of these I have changed have either seized or corroded like yours. beware the exhaust tailpipe tips don't like being removed to swap over, give them a good soak in WD or the...

    7g service recommendations north east

C & S gearbox repairs in Stockton are good, I trust them and rate them highly. Failing that, any independent Mercedes specialist should be able to do that.

    C63 C204 clutch smell

clutch and brakes smell similar. seen as a c63 never came with a manual gearbox I would go out for a blast and see which brake is hotter than the others after you've stopped.

M156 E63 head bolt preventative maintenance

I wouldn't bother, speaking from my own experience. I did mine as I had the engine out for other reasons, and too much time spent reading the horror stories made me think it was the right thing to do. think my 2008 car had 90k miles ish on it, only 2 of the 20 ish bolts had signs of corrosion...

E250 CDI ECU removed to remap?

Yes I have seen that engine in one. Ecu’s removal for remapping is quite normal, it’s no drama when it’s just sat right on top of the air box anyway. Nissan may use different software for their version, but the figures do sound a bit exaggerated to me.

What was your first ever car?

Mine was a 1981 VW scirocco 1.8GT, in mars red (orange). Bought off my brother’s girlfriend for £100 the day I passed my test. Had a fun summer then it met a disastrous end taking the front end off a Volvo that pulled out in front of me one day. Sad times. I bought another a few years later but...
