I have a 2014 W204, it seems to do it about once every two weeks. I'm sure I read somewhere it's a regen thing. Embarrassing when it decides to do it when you're sat in traffic, I try and set off as slow as possible, but smoke still bellows out. Only does it for less than 30 secs.

Apparently, there's a moulding round the bearing, that's the bit that has perished.

Can you hear the electronic steering lock come off when you put your key in. I had a similar thing with my 2014 C-Class. The steering lock needed replacing.

Just spoke to Comand, gave a couple of alternatives 1. They supply and fit unit including software and map upgrades to latest with warranty. 2. I supply unit and they can fit it and programme it. BUT if it's stolen I've lost it! Looked at Android facelift. Really don't like the look of them.
