    WBAC valuations

WBAC aim at high volume, quick resale cars. Their prices are relatively competitive for those - just below part ex value as stated above. They have no interest in niche models at all - but rather than refuse to quote, they just value them absurdly low. They're clearly not going to complain is...

    G3 Clay Mitt - Wow

The biggest problem I have with the clay mitt I bought is getting addicted to running my fingers over the resultant paintwork. It's as smooth as glass! The word 'sensual' popped into my head, and now I'm afraid I might have a problem...

In case anyone reads this in future: Used Nick Webster, and was very pleased with them. Pleasant to deal with, knew their onions (quoting what service items were needed at what mileage and age correctly from the top of their heads!) and quickly took account of what had been done in previous...

    wind in your hair motoring

For my 10th wedding anniversary, we hired an Aston V8 Vantage convertible, and went away for a weekend to Anglesey. What you see in that video exactly happened to us - motoring along with the top down, and a sudden cloudburst. The thing is, as we were going along at 60 or so, we weren't getting...

    Tunnels and your inner child

I was wondering if I could make my millions by designing a contraption which holds the boot open a crack, but securely. Or a modification to the estate which allows the rear window to wind down, like on some SUVs.

    Tunnels and your inner child

If you hold down the open button in the drivers door to start it opening, then press it again, it stops where it is. Until you hit a bump and it bounces itself closed.

    Tunnels and your inner child

It bongs a couple of times. But then it lets it go. It doesn't throw the apoplectic fit it does when you leave your seatbelt off because you're only driving across a car park. :D

    Tunnels and your inner child

Believe me, the estate boot open a crack is a LOT more effective than rear windows open. And it doesn't need tunnels or cuttings to bounce the sound back to you.

    Tunnels and your inner child

I know what you mean. My ideal would be for my car to be quieter on the outside and noisier on the inside, so I can enjoy it more without annoying people. In a demonstration of massive childishness, I have started occasionally driving with the boot open a crack (it's an estate) which gives you...

What's the point of a digital service record, if Mercedes ignore it?

Thanks, that's really interesting and explains the gaps perfectly. Given that I have the details of a digital service record having been entered, but I don't have the security code to be able to access it myself, is there any way for me to get that code? Or do I need to ring the Skipton dealer...

What's the point of a digital service record, if Mercedes ignore it?

Well that's the price quoted this time, to have it done in Macclesfield. The price on the invoice I have from it being done last year at Mercedes Skipton is £200 - although I think that's ex VAT.

What's the point of a digital service record, if Mercedes ignore it?

Not been worked on by an indi so far. Last service was by a Mercedes dealer, and it has a digital service report attached (but there's no security code on it, so I can't check it myself.)

What's the point of a digital service record, if Mercedes ignore it?

Cynical answer - to try to stop you using independents... Tried to get a quote today for the next service on my C63. It's 4 years old, 30k miles. When I rang my local dealer, they adviced I use the website to check what was needed and get a quote, so that's what I did. Here are all the things...

There's the Mercedes dealer themselves of course, and I've heard good things about Nick Webster in Poynton. I'm sure there was one in Macclesfield itself too, but I can't remember the name for that one. I need someone who I can trust with a C63, who has access to the Mercedes servicing software...

I'm only had my C63 for 6 months...

.. so it's perfectly reasonable that I only just spotted the speedo is non-linear, right? Past 100mph, the same markings are used for 20mph increments instead of 10mph increments. What elser have you noticed about your AMG and thought - how did I not spot that earlier?

    W204 vs W205 C63 AMG

If they ever make an estate, I can see myself in a Giulia in a few years time. Well, maybe 10.

What size bolts are needed for Mercedes roof bars?

I managed to get hold of the official Mercedes roof bars (for a W204 C class) - but as I suspected, I find that the bars are too wide to fit my roofbox using the U-bolts. I will therefore have to use the T-track system - but can anyone who has done this advise on the size of bolt which will...

C63 (W204) in manual, staying in 2nd when you come to a halt?

I paid more attention to it this morning - it definitely was happy to not drop to 1st for the first few minutes of my journey - and then after that it refused to not drop down. Outside temperature didn't change, so I think it must be something about the gearbox or engine oil temperature.

How not to drive in snow.

Until I saw you quote the date, I would have sworn this was a video I saw a few years back. Almost identical it was, with vehicles flying everywhere as they tried to avoid the obstacle they saw at the last second while travelling way too fast.
