    So you buy

Black is supposed to be a good radiator as well as an absorber. Hence black body radiation which I vaguely remember from my A level Physics. The absorbtion bit only comes into play when it's subject to sunlight (or possibly an infra red source), which it isn't. The main cooling effect, as others...

What to use with Coolant Tap water, Distilled or deionized?

What, you fill your radiator with a hosepipe?

    Tyre fitting recommendation west midlands.

West Midlands is a big area. I use Harbourne tyres. They seem OK and have repaired a couple of alloys for me.

What to use with Coolant Tap water, Distilled or deionized?

I have used deionised in the past on a Lada. Sometimes without any additives at all (no antifreeze). Put in in spring and changed in the autumn and it ran out beautifully clear. Since then I've mainly used tap water with no problems and run engines to 170 or 180k miles.

    Fault code Cam sensor?

The fault came back on Sunday. The car drives perfectly and starts perfectly. Since I serviced it has started returning 45mpg rather than struggling to get 40mpg so there can't be too much wrong. Drove home from Yorkshire to Gloucester with the light on. I doubt if it is the cam chain because a)...

    Fault code Cam sensor?

Hi all. Had the engine warning light and EPC come up yesterday whilst on holiday. The car continued driving normally. Called the AA out after we got to the campsite and he cleared the fault which so far hasn't come back. His report says Patrol found the following fault code/s:System : Engine...

    Help! Brake pulsing

I'd replace the discs today but by the time they arrive we'll be on holiday. I'l order some in for when we get back. Someone somewhere (motorbike forum i think) had a theory that keeping the brakes on when you' come to a halt migrated some material from the pads to the discs. So the discs...

    Help! Brake pulsing

Should I bleed them with the engine running or not? I did them with it off and got an ABS light for a short while.

    Help! Brake pulsing

OK I bled the rear brakes. No air in them at all. Brake feels firmer but on a run the pulsing is still there. I've got new rear pads arriving tomorrow so I'll fit them and see. It's possible that the pulsing is a bit better and with a bit if use they'll bed in and start working again. picture...

    Help! Brake pulsing

I've got a pukka brake spanner from Halfords. Didn't work on my wife's Hyundai brake pipes. I had to use a Stilson in the end and the brake pipe was seized in the connector so it twisted. I saw it twist and went back but it was too late.

    Help! Brake pulsing

No ABS on the rear brakes. ABS rings on front brakes OK Actually the right rear disc and pad is only worn on one bit. It's as though only half inch of the pad is in contact. Perhaps it is air. I'm loath to start bleeding the brakes now as I could well snap the bleed nipple off.

    Help! Brake pulsing

Ok story so far. I've had all the wheels off and can't see much wrong. No wheel wobble, no bearing play. The front disks and pads are new so the calipers must be sliding freely or else the garage would have said something. The new disks are very evenly worn so I don't think there's a problem...

    Help! Brake pulsing

I did wonder about the wheel bearing. I asked the garage to check it out but I don't think they did.

    Help! Brake pulsing

I'll try that but as the front discs have been proffessionally replaced (although I am capable of doing them myself) I would have thought it wouldn't be them. The funny thing is sometimes it's worse after driving up the motorway for 10 miles with no braking than it is after driving locally with...

    Help! Brake pulsing

Vaneo 1.7CDi I'm getting a variable pulsing through the brake pedal and possibly steering wheel as well. It doesn't always happen and sometimes it's worse than others. I thought there was some run out on one of the front discs but also noticed a split CV gaiter. The CV joint was practically...
