If the car has the 3G comms module then this would explain it. Mercedes are turning off functionality for cars with the older 3G comms module. You can see the car in the Mercedes Me app but non of the functionality - remote locking, location etc will work any longer.

Mine hadn’t expired - it was coming up for renewal. I wanted to renew but was told I couldn’t! There is also no upgrade path for the comms from 3G to 4G which is a shame.
