    My dad, Bruce Millar

I'm so very sorry and saddened to read this - I haven't been on the forum for a while and specifically came on to see how he was as I enjoyed his posts and his positive outlook on life despite his battles with his health. He was an inspiration to us and hope his end was peaceful. Thinking of...

    Quite sad ..

Quite like that grober (my best and most reliable car ever was a Subaru Forester) but it doesn't have an auto diesel version and not quite as good mpg as the X1. Which I've already put a deposit on so I mustn't look at alternatives now!

    Oil central heating tank weeping?

That is great news Bruce, so glad you got it all sorted as others have said it could have been a catastrophe both environmentally and financially! It reminded me of the time I was at home alone and noticed an oil smell near our tank. We have a 1000 litre tank near the house which was installed...

    Quite sad ..

I made the very difficult decision to part ex my Merc for another car. The main reason being its lowered suspension just isn't suitable for the lane I live in (during winter anyway) and various other places I go in the countryside. I did have stars in my eyes when I bought it and didn't fully...

    Bad Drivers

I've had plenty of white knuckle rides, would take too long to describe them all - but one is my sister. She lives in the Blue Mountains in Oz and has developed a habit of putting her foot down on the throttle to speed up, then when car has reached her desired speed she takes her foot off the...

    Bumper respray

Further to my incident in the car park where someone reversed into my car and scraped the bumper, I took the car into Ace Car Care Shrewsbury. This post is just to say they did an excellent job for a reasonable price (I am so used to Mercedes prices I actually thought it was cheap!), and would...

The most obnoxious drivers on the road are...

In answer to the original question - I couldn't choose just one. I have a long list (and it's still growing!) Drivers who tailgate you impatiently while you are overtaking in the fast lane as if you shouldn't be there, even if you are going more than 70 (usually BMW, Audi or Range Rover)...

    UK Servicing options

My car is 4 years old and is going to a Mercedes specialist for its next service, they are charging less than half of what I was quoted from the main dealer.

Damn car parks and ******* drivers!

I'm fine. More upset about having to get a repair quote :(

Damn car parks and ******* drivers!

It is actually a word - a dent in a surface. I've always used it to mean a small dent as opposed to dent which implies something bigger. I could have said small dent I suppose

Damn car parks and ******* drivers!

I've parked before in a huge car park that was literally empty - I mean there was parking for about 100 cars and there were about five in it. I parked on my own on the far side of the park, when I came back to car - yes you guessed it one was right next to mine - and so close I had to squeeze...

Damn car parks and ******* drivers!

Yes that's how I parked - but when I came out one car had moved off and another car had taken it's place .. clearly driven by someone who can't drive

Damn car parks and ******* drivers!

Wow how lucky - in all my years of car ownerships and having had numerous parking dints (one car had about 9 on it) I’ve never had that good fortune

Damn car parks and ******* drivers!

I always park the Merc as far away from others as I possibly can, sometimes it's not possible though. Today I was in a retail park between two cars with a lot of space either side. When I returned to the car, I noticed a different silver car next to me parked at an angle across two parking...

    Wipers not working

Wasn't sure where to put this, so admin please move if it shouldn't be here. I was about to go on a long trip and got into the car, turned the key but the front wipers didn't come on (screen was wet). There was no warning anywhere on the dash so I took key out, put it back in again but...

    Best home comfort(s)

They certainly do. Animals have given me the best therapy I could ever have had. When I was seriously ill I used to spend a lot of time with my horses just smelling their lovely muzzles and being with them. During those moments my illness took a back seat. And the unconditional love of dogs is...

    Best home comfort(s)

Hugs from this lot - and there are more :p (I'm also 61 in two weeks' time). And when I'm ready for peace and quiet, my sofa with a fleecy blanket

My Cancer Story - To help others.

Bruce, I 'liked' your post obviously not for the content but for your indomitable spirit. So sorry to hear the news but you still seem positive and I am sure that, and the support from your loved ones is helping you immensely. And of course buying tools. Keep on fighting x

    (Not so) Smart Repair

Yikes what a Holy crap what a cowboy - I made a better job of polishing the entire side of my daughter's Honda when it was driven into in a car park - and I'm a granny with no car repair experience and arthritis

    Bikers are always right

Probably repeating myself here as we had a similar thread not so long ago .. if a biker behaves irresponsibly on the roads then he'll no doubt come a cropper at some time, but most riders I know have far better road awareness than car drivers who have never ridden a bike. Yes of course there...
