An alternative is to use silicon spray, does the same job and has many other uses. I tend to use WD40's silicon spray (not to be confused with their normal WD40)

Could also be a blocked filter on the pump, that would affect both jets.

My 2005 C class has factory fitted alarm/immobiliser, I imagine you've probably got the same. I don't use any additional security and as SmartAmg says above, if it's insured then don't worry too much
