    Viano grey smoke saga

Excellent that it is sorted, but a shame that it cost you a new turbo which would appear to have been a 'guess' diagnosis by your MoT garage. I would imagine that the intermittent fault on the glow plugs was based on the engine management system detecting an abnormal electrical resistance; it...

    Run flats or not...

I would also echo 190's experience of not having had an immobilising puncture; in my case, over the past 39 years. My previous car was a 3-series BMW with run-flats; until that point, I had only owned vehicles with conventional tyres. I received a warning that the rear off-side tyre was...

    ATF colour ?

I would echo that the conductor plate is a likely candidate if a fresh read of the codes back that up. A week after buying my E280 with about 87,000 miles on, my car got stuck in 2nd gear as a limp home 'feature'; stopping, turning the engine off and restarting reset the limp feature and I was...

    Left lane hogger caught.

I must admit that it is really a pain when someone just sits in the middle lane on a motorway for no reason, but even more annoying is on a dual carriageway when one lorry doing 0.1 mph faster than another lorry decides to overtake... and takes five minutes to do so at half the speed limit

    Bristol diesel ban

Brilliant... I use the M32 on work business in my privately owned car between those hours when the ban is on :wallbash:

    Limp Mode no warning lights

Over the past two years that I have owned my E280, I have had three separate faults which have caused the dreaded limp home mode; each time, it was heavy acceleration that precipitated the limp home condition and there was no EML. In case it helps, this is what my three separate faults were: 1...

    E280 W211 MPG

My E280 will usually do about 43-45 mpg on a long run mostly on the motorway, and it did once manage 50 mpg which I put down to long stretches of 50 mph average speed zones through roadworks. I do not find that the cold weather affects mpg very much on my long runs, but when my economy drops it...

    E320 Cdi Oil Leak

At least you know for sure what it is now. My E280 has done 130,000 miles with no sign of a leak yet but, as they say, it is not 'if' it is 'when'!
