Just checked struts by manually closing the boot and they will hold it in any position so its closure speed that is the issue - might be normal but it seems a bit too solid !

Hi its a fairly solid close but I think its more due to the approach speed than a lack of damping.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. The ride is as you suggest soft by some standards but its just not as comfortable as my old E280. I've done 18,000 miles in the last 12 months and while it hadles well my wife complains its not as smoth over the good old British roads.

Hi my E430 estate rides too firmly for my liking (compared to my old E280 estate). Can anyone recommend softer springs (perhaps elegance spec. might do the job).

guys thanks for the quick responses. The smoked lensed facelift lights only have one rear light bulb on the estate where as the earlier clear lensed lights ran two bulbs so though the connector blocks are the same there is nothing for one of the feed pins to coonect to.
