    Returning to the AMG family.

Hi everyone, been a while since I last checked in here. It looks like I’m making a triumphant return to AMG ownership in the shape of a 2017 GT R. I’ve sold my M3 track day toy and also looking to sell my Caterham, these should fund the GT R. I’m torn by the how necessary the Premium Pack is...

    Electric Smart

I've been driving this today. I have to say I was fairly sceptical but I'm not embarrassed to say that I'm really impressed and will gladly swap my current 17 reg petrol version for one. It's easily as fast, or maybe even faster, than the petrol up to 70mph, which is all I need for my daily...

    E63 with/without map and MSL.

Popped into MSL on Saturday where the lovely Acid dug me out of a Eurocharged Watford induced problem. Top service as always, way beyond what anyone else would have done, thanks very very much Acid.:thumb: I also experienced an E63 BiTurbo with and without a map, and all I can say is "wow"...

Maybe not replacing my E63 with the W213 version then...

My E63 goes back at the end of May and I've made some preliminary enquiries about the new one, and been slightly surprised at the result. :( There aren't any deals yet basically, PCP works out at 2.5 times more expensive than my current one, and I'm not going to buy outright. I may go back to...

After 20+ years, I've ruined my run....

I've kerbed a wheel :fail It was whilst parking, I could see the granite kerb in my near side mirror, I needed a bit more room on my right so I decided to shuffle over a few inches. Big mistake:doh: front wheel was right by a kerbstone that stuck out higher and further than the ones I could...

    AMG Pit Crew

Did anyone else get the AMG "Pit Crew" thing in the post recently? Seems fairly handy, not sure if I'd use it, hope it's entirely free :thumb:

E63 COMAND thinks I'm in the north sea

So I was returning from Calais on the Eurotunnel and all seemed fine until I disembarked in Folkestone and the car still thought it was in Calais. It worked fine going the other way! As I drove home we ended up somewhere in the north sea 100 miles west of Felixstow. I've...

My E63 has lost its Nurburgring virginity.

    Getting used to powerful cars.

So I recently acquired an E92 M3 to accompany my Caterham on the track and I've been driving it around for a few days, I hadn't used my E63 for a couple of weeks, but jumping back into it today made me realise just how brutally powerful it is and how easy it just hurls itself at the horizon...

I need another track car, M3.

So I felt that I need another track car that isn't as hardcore, terrifying, or specialised as my Caterham to use. I found this M3 on eBay, has AP big brake kit already, just needs a nice set of coilovers. It's a DCT, has 117k miles but you really can't tell, has been well serviced and cared...

    E63 first service.

No surprises, 11,000 miles completed, new rear tyres and pads needed. Fronts still OK with 5mm left on tread though showing heat cracks, and 50% left on the pads, the paint on the pads had melted off  I got two new P Zero MO tyres fitted by mobile dude for £411 and did Pagid pads...

E63s are very fussy when it comes to alignment.

My E63 had its first service last week and it was noticed that the rear tyres were badly worn on the inner shoulders, yet had 4mm remaining across the width of the tyre. I took it to Wheels in Motion in Chesham as they did a good job on sorting a pervious MB I had which pulled badly to the...

    Santa Pod. 2nd April.

Went Santa Pod. Pistonheads Sunday Service.

I really need new rear tyres. :fail In hindsight they've done a few track days and a top speed event so have had lots of big heat cycles and are past their best. I didn't even lower the pressures from the standard 39psi. I think 20psi might have helped, and also staying for the hotter temps as...

My E63 asking for a litre of oil at 5,500 miles.

The car popped a message up on the dash to add a litre of oil at my next fuel fill up. Duely added a litre of 0-40w today. Surprised it took this long as it's had a fair amount of hard work so far. Anyone get asked to add oil between services?

    Smart tries to kill me.

So I'm on one of Milton Keynes' many 70mph sections heading downhill towards a roundabout and a queue of cars. The dashboard lights up advising that Brake Assist is offline. I curiously tap the brake pedal conscious that I'm going to need them imminently only to discover the pedal is rock hard...

    My poor Smart.

Someone drove into me as I was going around a roundabout today, tagged the back of my poor little Smart. Chap was apologetic a witness also kindly stopped and we all agreed what happened. I had to pull the bumper out by hand before driving off as it was fouling the tyre. It still drives ok.

    Don't abuse me, but.....

I had a perfect opportunity to see what I could squeeze out of my E63 on an economy run this afternoon :o Here's the result. Door to door, Barnsley to Milton Keynes.

Some man just drove off in my E63!

 Well, it was Andy from Eurocharged Watford :bannana: Well, he said he was Andy :dk: Hopefully it'll be back this time tomorrow with a different set of down pipes installed. My car has been getting louder recently anyway so I hope I can notice the difference :D .....hope...

    New Smart

Another 12 months have been and gone and this means another new Smart, number 4. This time obviously it's the new model :bannana: It's a 71kw Prime with the Premium Plus package. It's actually better equipped than my E63:fail It has reversing camera, lane assist, cross-wind assist, heated...
