Thinking about returning - SLK 320

It had the B service 1000 miles ago apparently and the dealer will do a full check (hence the new tyres and ac service)...so I assume no service needed for a year. He will put an MOT on it and I am going to ask for a 12 month warranty :) It was registered 31 Jan 2001, so cheaper tax :bannana...

Thinking about returning - SLK 320

Thanks for your reply :) Is yours a manual or auto? Given my poor experience of the auto gearbox on the 230, I would rather a manual, but they are a bit like hens' teeth and certainly within 60 miles of here for that price There are a few cheaper cars out there, but most seem to be silver...

Thinking about returning - SLK 320

Hi all I had an auto SLK 230 last summer which I never really got on with as I didn't like the transmission, the engine was a bit weedy and the lack of engine note was disappointing (having come from 5 cylinder Italian). I really like the shape and size of the car, the folding roof and driving...

    SLK 230 vs 320

A4 convertible is too big to park happily in horrid work carpark! Thanks for the feedback on the TT - If only I could spend time in 6th gear, lucky to get to 40 mph most of the time! What's so bad about the mini apart from every 3rd car being one around here (911s another quarter, 4x4 a...

    SLK 230 vs 320

I'm 5'9, 32" inside leg and not the slimmest  Trader I guess, not Ford dealer (used car place). For example, he said that he paid £450 for a new clutch for a 225 TT and that was through his mechanic (mate's rate)! Example of Audi specialist TT costs, not cheap...

    SLK 230 vs 320

Thanks :) I realise the Focus is not the same as an SLK or TT but probably 3-4k cheaper for a newer car! It just seems like an option I had a look at an ST170 today, seems like a nice car, although not really sporty (was a 3 door so better) - didn't get to drive it which was a shame. Was...

    SLK 230 vs 320

I have had my 1999 SLK 230 for a few months now and I am rather disappointed with the power given it has 193bhp and eats petrol with abandon! Also, having come from 5 pot Italian, it just sounds rather feeble, mainly the whine of the supercharger, but just no growl at all when accelerating...

    R170 SLK V 1999 reg

My Merc is for sale...it isn't really meeting my needs, so looking to change Bought in mid-March, so taxed and MOT'd until March 2009 It's a 1999 V-reg in bright red with gorgeous two-tone black and grey leather, with around 70500 miles on the clock. Has the superb folding roof, which works...

    Thinking of buying an SLK

It doesn't have FMBSH but it has been serviced annually. The figures I am getting (I'm guessing c. 22mpg, although it's difficult to tell with fuel prices going up constantly :() , seem in line with the figures I've seen for urban consumption ...

    Thinking of buying an SLK

It's all urban driving unfortunately - rarely get above 40mph, which with a 2.3l engine and an auto box does not make for good economy :( When the road does open up, I do tend to put my foot down which probably doesn't help either  It did have an oil change before I got it, what else...
