    Dipped beam problem

Thanks Parrotman. Yeah, was hoping it would go away but afraid it's constant. Spoke to an Indy who servived my R-class and he said it could be the ballast or something else(can't remember what he said) so thnk I'll have to get him to look at it. I can't see the ballast in the engine...

    Dipped beam problem

Hello all, Got a funny which hope someone can help please? The SL got a warning that the RH dipped beam was not working so switched bulbs to confirm it was the bulb. (They're only 5 months old) The LH dipped beam works OK and the RH doesn't so looks like the bulbs are OK, however I now...

Running in new Bi Turbo E63 Estate

All I was advised was drive normally but don't use cruise control or kickdown. Think if you just drive sensibly you should be OK. Sensibly in a E63 AMG though? Oh, must be so tempting! Enjoy!

    e350 or jag XF 3.0

Friend of mine just changed his CLS for an XK 3.0 and Jeez, it's fast! If that's the same engine in the XF it must be a flier. The XK interior really puts MB in the shade and it's making me think of changing the R350 for the new XF estate as I think it's a really nice looking car.

    r230 sl buying advice plz

Get the 2005 spec (out in 2004) as it has DVD based sat-nav and other bits and bobs. That year's 350 V6 is a 3.7 which is powerful enough though only 5-speed. The 500 V8 7-speed is actually pretty quiet so you won't miss the sound. I think I would always have regretted not getting the 500 -...

    Tracker Subscription

I couldn't insure my SL without it and when I bought my R350 some insurance companies wouldn't insure it without one.

    R Class

Had to get the pulley and motor replaced. It was making a lot creaking/groaning noises and only just managed to get it closed before taking it to the dealer. Luckily for me MB Giffnock replaced it free of charge even though it was out of warranty. Saved me close on £2000 as it was a...

    R Class

Had mine since new Mar 2007 and have now done around 50,000 miles and has been a great drive, very comfy long-distance. The 3.5 petrol doesn't do good mpg though, averaging around 20 and maybe 25 on long runs but would be better if I went slower! Undecided which is best value though...

    Servicing Plan

When I'd my service plan for my SL it included everything except wipers and tyres but that was a while ago. Well worth it then.

    R-class Jump Start Handy Hint

Read how to do it before you have to!!! My wife and I and another couple flew into Edinburgh from Barbados Saturday 06:00 and his CLS had a flat battery. I've jump leads so brought my car over to his and eventually found his battery! Mine wasn't under the bonnet either or the tailgate...

When is a new car not a new car?

Did you read mine? I said "I think I'd be pretty ******-off if I ordered a new car and found it wasn't the latest spec." He didn't get the latest spec, I didn't say he didn't get what he ordered.

OK - so what niggles you about your car ?

That MB have stopped the easy-exit seats! When I get in the R-class I have to move the set back to get in after my wife has driven it which is a pain in the rain, no erse.

When is a new car not a new car?

What's will all the grief pipmk is getting? I don't get it? He raised a valid question and all he gets is mostly smart-****d comments. I think I'd be pretty ******-off if I ordered a new car and found it wasn't the latest spec. Here's the opposite:- I ordered a new SL350 in 2002 with had...

Have MB increased their service costs?

Great stuff Alan, thanks for that. :thumb: Gave Dave (ex-service mgr for Glasgow) a phone and he's going to do it for £145+vat. He explained why MB's quote was £699 and that he'll only service where due. I'll lose Mobilo as others have stated but can get breakdown cover and still save...

Have MB increased their service costs?

Yup, all that. Strange, he said he'd call me back with a breakdown of the cost which they've never done before. MB Giffnock by the way. Was only expecting £300-400. I'll phone other dealers and see what they say. Thanks people.
