    Whitney Houston...RIP

I have to disagree about alcohol. Some, maybe most people use it in moderation, but millions don't. Statistically, it kills many, many more people than any other drug, costs the NHS billions, wrecks families, careers, lives, causes anti social behaviour, crime and domestic violence. It can wreck...

    Whitney Houston...RIP

Whitney's problems started when she met, and married, Bobby Brown. I worked as crew on her 1992 European tour, and she was in big trouble even then, only capable of performing 30 minute sets, and poorly. Her behaviour was erratic, her people were having a hard time. Her inner circle were very...

    1990 W124 price list

Thanks Graham, interesting reading. If I was ordering one now, I'd jump at MB Tex for £154, as opposed to over ten times that amount for leather.........Self Levelling seems reasonable at £638.....I wonder what full sportline cost, it would be easy to have spent 40 grand+ on a 300E-24.

    W124 hearse, convert to camper?

An ambulance would be a better bet for a camper, there's a few w124 ones around still (LHD only), here's one based on a w210: w210 ambulance

    Redknapp's tax affairs

One of my favourite Harry quotes: "I have to tell police the truth, not Mr Beasley - he's a News of the World reporter."

    Working while claiming sick pay

No, get respect by showing the courage of your convictions. Read up on life under the Stasi in East Germany. No, I meant respect from the community. Which is a valuable thing. You're hardly likely to get any from her. Precisely. It's real life.

    Working while claiming sick pay

Let me get one thing straight. I do not in any way support what this woman is doing, and have never said I do. It's not what she's doing that I'm talking about. Of course defrauding a system that's there for people who actually need it is wrong. What I don't support is the anonymity, the...

    Working while claiming sick pay

How can you possibly equate helping stop criminal damage with informing on a benefit cheat? Do you really not get it, or are you trolling again? One action benefits the community, the other damages it, as Bellow's comments about trust point out. Think about it. What disturbs me most about this...

    Working while claiming sick pay

I'm not going to rise to that. Without responsibility in the community, there is no community. If there is no community, we're all fecked.

Personally, I think it is morally wrong not to take responsibility for your actions by hiding behind your anonymity. You should man-up and tell her what you've done, and why. This will probably permanently affect her life, she has a right to know. So, after this potential success, what next...

    Working while claiming sick pay

Mercfan, since you are obviously such a right-minded upstanding example of goodness to everyone, who's never done anything wrong, I'm sure you'll do the honourable thing and tell this person face to face what you intend to do, and take full responsibility for the consequences, before INFORMING...

    Working while claiming sick pay

OK, so: Ashamed yet? And since you're 'proud to be a clipe' just make sure you never, ever put a foot wrong, and remain squeaky clean and above reproach. Even then, someday you might have to defend yourself against a false accusation.

    Working while claiming sick pay

And if you get caught because some busy-body grasses you up to the authorities, then we're in Orwell's 1984, or East Germany pre 1990. Nice. Just make sure you stay squeaky clean. My advice - live your own life, and if you like, feel smug that you're a better person than her. She's just the Big...

    Working while claiming sick pay

So are you going to leave it at informing on the lady down the road, or will your crusade take on the real tax fiddlers like international corporations and the super rich?

    Working while claiming sick pay

The benefit system was created by government, it's their job to police it, not ours. The idea of turning someone in to the authorities for fiddling a few quid smacks of communist eastern Europe before 1990 - divide and rule. Is your life so perfect and squeaky clean? If so, just enjoy it, this...

    M104 280 engine misfire.

If you're replacing the 3 plug leads, you should also replace the three connectors underneath each coil, that connect the coil direct to the sparkplug. These are a well known cause of misfires, they degrade with time. They should always be replaced with new ones whenever sparkplugs are changed...

Has Anyone Tried Continental Premium Contact 2 Tyres

I had them on my w124 estate, which they're well suited to. Great in the wet and under braking, wear not too bad, totally useless in snow slush or anything slippery. I use Nokian EnTyre all seasons on my Subarus, excellent tyres.

The Big Man has been charged!

Back in the days of real railways ;) the 'ticket inspector' would have been a 'Guard', and would have dealt with the situation swiftly and appropriately. That's what he's there for - to deal with people without tickets, not just those with... In this particular incident, all three...

    Guitars

The Taylor Expression pickup system works very well through an amp or direct into the PA. Sounds full clear and natural. It's a combination of 2 contact mics suspended in space-jelly under the sound board, and another piezo under the bridge. Three discreet knobs: treble, bass, volume. Pre amp...

    M104 280 engine misfire.

From my experience tracking down a similar problem with my '96 E280 M104, it could be any of the above suggestions, plus a few more. I'd recommend checking for fault codes with a blink tester to narrow it down a bit. You can make one for a few quid with bits from Maplins, here's a diagram, and...
