I replaced my main battery fairly recently because of starting issues, the aux one is only used for stop start and hold feature, mine has been dud for 3 years, don’t need it really as always disable stop start as it’s a pain.

So did you cancel the deal before he had a chance to provide the history? Maybe he suspects you were a bit hasty.

What makes you think it could have missed last years service when the latest service is only a few days overdue ? Unless it said 370 days overdue. How old is the car ? That would give us some idea how many services it should have and what was required. As said previously it might be serviced...

If you have charged up your old main battery and everything worked ok, then 2 days later the stop start packs up then it’s your main battery failing. Even if your auxiliary battery (if you have one, some have a voltage converter/capacitor) is good, you still need a healthy main battery.

Great price, that’s about £50 labour, very good. How hard can it be ?

My 2014 E250 does not fluctuate, it rises slowly to around 90 and stays there, maybe dropping a degree or two but that's it. if that's any help ?

Surely they could do the basic A service, (oil and filter with a quick look round) ?

Mintex pads for mine are £33 on ebay, same for the wifes B200 with electric brake, wasn't aware of any settings to be reset after fitting, maybe its for newer vehicles. Changed both rear pads recently.

That really depends on the slope of the hill, on a motorway or dual carriageway where cruise is often used, you would be hard pushed to go more than 5 mph over the limit, I travel to Lincoln from Leics nearly every week, you could feel the braking if cruise was on. I now coast down those slopes.

Surely you would knock off the cruise when going downhill, your wasting energy, and in your case brake pads. I’ve just changed my rear discs and pads at 55,000 miles, they were still ok but the awful internal handbrake shoes had rusted and failed. I always prefer to coast down hills.
