    Adblue indication

I got hit with AdBlue faults back in December. Ended up having a new tank at over £1k plus labour. Disgraceful that cars are sold with these shoddy unreliable systems, particularly the notorious AdBlue system but also DPFs, nox sensors and egr valves. All AdBlue systems are unreliable but...

    Front Knocking.

Neither did mine, but they were the cause of my horrible rear ended knocking noise! Like you, I checked all the usual suspects but all seemed fine. In the end I had to give in and take it to the dealer where the master tech came out with me and instantly pinpointed the noise as “inside” the...

Mercedes do not include AdBlue top up as part of A or B service

I was under the impression that approved MB dealers included as part of a B service AdBlue top up (I also thought they drained and refilled) but I note that during my last B service they didn’t touch the AdBlue as it came away 50% full, same as when it went in. I have emailed the dealership to...

    Engine noise

Is it constant or intermittent? Both my E classes have made the same sound but on both it seemed to come from underneath the drivers door area, both different engines, but same sound and only occasional, not as loud though (unless as above it is amplified by the phone). I put it down to DPF...

    W213 220d limp mode/air flow issue

Have you checked for any split hoses, disconnected pipes around the air intake etc? Check the air filter aswell. MAF sensor dirty? Just thoughts (non-mechanic). Get it to a specialist indie; they’ll be able to sort. Hope you get it sorted.

Egr , boost, dpf , help!

I can understand people getting sick of DPF faults but I’d be pretty annoyed if I bought a car and the previous owner had gutted the DPF. Same with AdBlue and EGR deletes. Getting these things reinstated is a nightmare.

    Paintwork advice needed.

I assume you can’t feel them when running the back of your nail over them? If you cannot, they ‘should’ in theory polish out, but failing that, as you say, you could try gently with some fine wet sandpaper, then buff it off and finish with a fine finishing pad. I may be tempted to try that...

Tougher mobile phone laws in force from today (25 March 2022)

It seems that cameras aimed at catching those using a phone whilst driving are now a thing? https://www.google.com/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2021/12/30/new-game-changer-camera-caught-15000-drivers-using-their-phones-15839654/amp/

Time for MB A service! Oil

I agree. A waste of what, £50/60 and an hour of enjoyment? Come on. This has been discussed to death and some people prefer to stick to the manufacturer’s schedule whilst others like to service every 6m / 5k miles. It depends on the type of driving and the conditions as to whether it is...

Time for MB A service! Oil

Hi guys, I have owned the car 11 months, it had a B service 11 months ago. I’m very obsessive with maintenance, changing the oil every 4-5k, so after 4-5k (approx 6 months) I carried out an interim oil and filter change - my plan is to let MB service the car annually and for me to carry out an...

    W213 pan roof service guidance

On the back of another thread, I bought the MB Krytox liquid and special grease for servicing my pan roof. I’ve found the servicing guide for the pan roof on two other models (one uses both Krytox and the grease and the other calls for just the grease), but mine (213) is different to both! I...

W213 Remove hairline scratches to gloss black trim

Yes I’ve heard that aswell. It’s more abrasive than SRP.

W213 Remove hairline scratches to gloss black trim

I have the same piano black trim and they do collect hairline scratches and swirls extremely easily. The best way to guarantee removal of most marks is to machine polish but very messy trying to do that inside the car, so probably removal of the trim would be required. Some say that hand...

    Panoramic Roof Maintenance

I understand. My assumption was indeed incorrect o_O The Mrs acquired a Toyota that belonged to my mum and dad who had owned it since new, having it serviced by Toyota annually. It is now 12 years old and has never had a brake fluid change. This is one of those ‘additional’ items but unlike...

    Panoramic Roof Maintenance

This is extremely useful information. I was looking to protect the rubber seals that surround the pan roof but wasn’t sure what maintenance was required on the mechanism itself. I have now ordered both solutions and shall be doing this. I assume from @Spider10 post above that MB don’t carry...

Very nice E500 s211. High spec, rare colour

Very interesting! It is obviously just me, but I think the colour is dreadful! And those wheels don’t suit the character.

    RL350 cdi engine noise

That is loud! Any smoke, smells in cabin? Tried taking the serpentine belt off and seeing whether it still makes the noise so as to eliminate alternator and accessories?
