Have you checked for any split hoses, disconnected pipes around the air intake etc? Check the air filter aswell. MAF sensor dirty? Just thoughts (non-mechanic). Get it to a specialist indie; they’ll be able to sort. Hope you get it sorted.

I can understand people getting sick of DPF faults but I’d be pretty annoyed if I bought a car and the previous owner had gutted the DPF. Same with AdBlue and EGR deletes. Getting these things reinstated is a nightmare.

I assume you can’t feel them when running the back of your nail over them? If you cannot, they ‘should’ in theory polish out, but failing that, as you say, you could try gently with some fine wet sandpaper, then buff it off and finish with a fine finishing pad. I may be tempted to try that...

Very interesting! It is obviously just me, but I think the colour is dreadful! And those wheels don’t suit the character.

That is loud! Any smoke, smells in cabin? Tried taking the serpentine belt off and seeing whether it still makes the noise so as to eliminate alternator and accessories?
