For caravanners' eyes only - we're getting a new one!!

Lots of a certain age were like that. Ours certainly was. I think the new system was probably established in 2008 or so

For caravanners' eyes only - we're getting a new one!!

I sold our caravan a week and half ago. I may have underpriced it, but I tend to think I priced it in line with its condition, which at 18 years old needed maintenance. Someone set off within 10 minutes of listing and the phone was off the hook for the day it took for the first guy to get a 13...

    W212 Rear subframe

Speak to a dealer. They will not tell you that there is a recall, and may tell you that there is a charge to look at the vehicle. In practice Mercedes are then covering the cost off changing the rear subframe. It looks like it may need recovering to them on a transported! Good luck!

    Rear sub frame replacement

That is in the US. But in the UK I think the criteria is there must be a hole, not just corrosion.

The dealer initially quoted £1,400 to do the brake pipes. We ended up at £630.

Having seen the state of the rear pipes I think this is pretty inevitable in any case...

    W212 Rear subframe

Over the past few months, I've seen more and more discussions concerning the rear sub-frame. Nervously I remembered my car spent time in Newton Abbot. On Monday it duly failed the MOT with holes in the subframe. We have a 2012 E350 W212 I booked it into Mercedes, who have today approved a...

    W212 Backside drops

Thanks all. Gives me something to look at. The suspension is a longer-term fix. First priority is a rusty rear subframe..

    W212 Backside drops

We have a E350 W212. Until recently it has been reliable. It is now becoming something of an annoying teenager and nearly as expensive. It has spent 3 days in the garage for 'stuff', where one of the things I wanted to sort was the drooping rear. It has come back with bigger problems...

    C class crash

No. I'm not even sure what it was. They had only had it a couple of weeks and when I went to recover their dog, it was the first time I had seen it. You will not be surprised to hear the police were there. I'm sure they checked. They were great actually - even helped load my car up with my...

    C class crash

Evening all I had a call from my parents on Sunday, who had been involved in an accident. They have a 2009 ish C class. A VW tourag had turned right. He was hidden from them by a campervan waiting for lights, and I suspect he did not see them also because of the campervan. They T-boned the...

For caravanners' eyes only - we're getting a new one!!

Sounds interesting. Solar panel on my list. Although I seem to have some damp, so my to-do list has got a bit longer. I'm pretty sure its the seal behind the awning rail which looks to have been bodged in the past. So awning rail off, reseal, then assess internal repairs. It's in a...

    Tell me about... Dalmations

Time does not half march on…. Domino is now nearly 9 and still very much part of the family. His favourite thing is chasing stones on the beach, and as a next best thing a stick, the bigger the better. He is very protective of the house and especially the car, but will modify his behaviour...

    S212 Rear Lamp Cluster

We have just had one of the rear lamp clusters changed after a collision with a digger. The indicator is showing a fault and after an initial momentary attempt to light does not. All over lamps operate as normal and the cluster is adjusting with the red lights flashing as it the fault. Do...
