    W205 - adding Burmester subwoofers

Evening all. Haven’t posted for a while, as work had gotten in the way - but back to play again now. Background - I have a 2018 C350e Premium, so it didn’t come with Burmester Audio as fitted to the Premium Plus models. I’ve already added CarPlay, via an aftermarket module ( which works really...

Sunroof rear seal - in or out?

Brethren… A quick one, albeit a little obscure. Was spending some time doing a good clean today, and noticed that the “forward” seal on the fixed part of the sunroof is half in & half out ( see pics below) So - should i move it all in or all out?

280GE Gwagen.. owning an modifying my 30year old Mercedes.

What an awesome thread! Great devotion to your car - and the added satisfaction of doing it yourself, the very essence of "Built, not bought". How many of us will be able so work on the more modern cars in 30 years time. Well done John.

    Swapping out W205 Grills

To be honest, taking the bumper off is straightforward… I was super careful and slow doing it, 30 mins will easily cover taking off. Just make sure you have the space etc. The grille I bought is definitely a pattern part - genuine MB one is circa 400 euro! When I ordered it, I was trying to...

    Swapping out W205 Grills

All Having enviously admired the “diamond” style grill in the newer W205 models, decided to bite the bullet on the swap over… Bought the grill online , and went for the option with the camera cutout ( had to make a minor trim to make it fit into the existing bumper) Removing the bumper went...

    About to buy a 2016 C350e or should I?

Hi Nomadic - my 2 or 3 cents on this emotive topic ;-) Firstly, usage model is key: mixture of urban/rural driving, hybrid is great. Lots of motorway driving - not so much. This is regardless of manufacturer, or hybrid type (plug-in/self charging) Next up is the machine itself - try to look at...

    New c350e buyer

Hi Paperaino - welcome, and remember: try to enjoy your new motor for what it is! To try answering some of your questions: Mine is a 2018 model, and has the Garmin SD card based system. I asked Mercedes about updating the maps- couldnt get a “straight” answer on price ( “you’ll have to bring it...

Is worth to buy C350e - will you buy again?

To quote Michael Caine ( or Peter Sellers) - “not a lot of people know that” - thank you! Useful to know - wonder what would happen if you arrived for the NCT test with a flat EV battery

Is worth to buy C350e - will you buy again?

@DubMerc Had the NCT done tonight, zero imbalance and sailed through. Only odd thing…. Absolutely nothing on the emissions - ie it looks like they tested it as a pure EV. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite me in the future…

Is worth to buy C350e - will you buy again?

Hi Urgi. Best of luck with the test drive… Only thing I’d add to the comments above is to make sure you test the sunroof if fitted - apparently these gan cave issues with the mechanism if unused for long periods. Worth bearing in mind that the range you will get on electric during a test drive...

Is worth to buy C350e - will you buy again?

@DubMerc - interesting note on the rear axle imbalance - mine is due its first NCT on the 22nd… watch this space

Is worth to buy C350e - will you buy again?

Hi Urgi Like you, I was an Audi devotee ( a B8 model A4, and a C7 model C6) followed by a 3.5 year stint in a Jaguar XF 2.2D. Good cars all. I now have my c350e over 7 months, and have put up 11,500 miles. Would I buy again? Absolutely. No technical faults so far - only significant projects I...

    Battery range on C350e

Again, sorry for being late to the party on this one. I agree with all the comments from m’learned colleagues re range in winter vs summer - on colder days here, I see about 10/12 km at best … BUT some small things can make a real difference: Precondition the battery before journeys Pre-heat...

    A question for Ireland c350e owners…

Evening DubMerc - sorry, just saw your reply now. I got a Zappi installed as well, went with an installation offer from ePower. Showed up quickly, helped with all the paperwork for the grant etc. The Zappi itself is a great piece of kit - Ive got it tied into the night rate, so charging at...

    Plugin Hybrid Question

I‘d kill for that commute :-) I see the positives in your argument… I reckon that the later model, with the 13kwh batter would give you that kind of range, without breaking sweat. If only someone could figure out how to fit the larger battery to the c350e ….

    Plugin Hybrid Question

Hi RabT.. If you were to think of it as an “electric only” car, then yes, it would be extremely disappointing! You have to look at it in the overall - the mix of the petrol/electric, the regen as you brake, etc- then it makes much more sense. As for the degradation part - before I bought my 3...

    Plugin Hybrid Question

Hi markjay - yes, plug it in every evening, getting the benefit of the lower night rate ( I have an app on the wallbox that schedules the charging to being after midnight), and will be useful for Pre-heating the car in cold weather. I do charge it during the day at weekends as well, as I do the...
