    Need a holiday

Croatia is very nice - good weather and friendly people, not too busy and no youbs/lager louts. A bit on the quiet side if you like that sort of thing. There's some good places in Turkey, but you have to chose carefully.

Getting a hard time over a green car

When I opened this thread I thought someone had bought a hybrid car ('green' as in ecological!)........... I had a great passion for the Lotus Carlton which was green (although nearly black admittedly). BRG looks 'right'....but only on the right car (MGB as mentioned already). Generally...

    Should she be driving ?

'If you consider that I have in any way insulted you, then I apologise. I admit that I find your standpoint perplexing and infuriating, but I had no intention of making any personal slights.' No apology needed - we were having a debate and the beauty of the forum (over some other unnamed...

    Should she be driving ?

I've clearly hit a nerve here, but you do seem intent on interpreting my words rather than reading them. I've already said I don't care about peoples' race, creed, ability/disability etc etc AND that there a good and bad drivers in all. The difference with obviously disabled drivers is that...

    Should she be driving ?

Agreed. I don't know the individual nor the circumstances of the majority, but I know what I see and the effects it has. Check back on a previous thread re an old codger driving the wrong way down a motorway - if (stress 'if') s/he was disabled, wtf did s/he have a drivining licence? Ah, that...

    Should she be driving ?

I think you missed my point - I don't give a stuff whether someone on the road comes from a minority group or not, but the simple truth is that many of these groups are clearly afforded driving licences when their particular 'restriction' makes them less capable than many (but not all) others...

    Should she be driving ?

The comments about pre-judging this individual's ability to drive are appropriate, but the underlying concern is the PC attitude to minorities who jeopardise the majority. If we assume (and I emphasise 'assume) this individual's ailment does limit her ability to drive, we live in a country...

    Shannon is found!

I still fear the scumbag nature of poor Shannon's family distracts attention from the McCann's. I have a horrible feeling something ultimately similar happened in this middle-class, God-squad doctors' family but somehow the suspicion takes longer to manifest itself and the diligence of Plod is...

    Shannon is found!

Sadly no-one can undo whatever's gone on in this case, but the frustration will be the pathetic 'punishment' which will no doubt be handed out by some geriatric judge. Punishment seems disproportionate these days - 20+ years for fraud, <5 years for most forms of physical assault. No doubt the...

    Avarage Speed Camara's

I did get done by a SPECS camera - although admittedly not the ones on the M1. I was photographed at 52 in roadworks on the M25 in 2006 where SPECS were in place, about 2200 on the way back from Gatwick. I got the 'Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty' and fought back.....and won. But SPECS do...

    Avarage Speed Camara's

Yep - they're real all right. SPECS are very accurate so there's not always a setting above the posted speed and are virtually undefendable. There is a belief that by changing lanes you can dodge the reading, but no-one ever seems to have claimed to do it!

    Global warming?

I propose a flatulence tax to reflect the emissions and the effect on the (immediate) environment!! Oh - that's me paying a whole load more then..............

C63 versus M3 versus Lexus Video.

Hmmm. My view....... BMW looks like all other 3 series. Common as muck and driven by - er - BMW drivers! Lexus - got a face for radio, but probably very well built MB - OK, I know this is an MB forum, but it's 6.3 litre and 600 Nm of torque. No contest? Here, here re the tester - really...

    Shannon is found!

I'm still bloody suspicious of the McCanns too. Maybe I'm just cynical, but something just ain't right - at least from what we hear (not necessarily accurate of course....)

    Alfa 166

Notoriously fragile and not well made. I drove a 500 mile demonstrator in the pouring rain and had my cheque book out when Mrs AFC picked up her handbag from the passenger footwell.............from 2 ins of rainwater! They are a drivers car - whether that's a euphemism for 'great to drive by...

    Shannon is found!

Everyone bar the Plod figured out who/what weeks ago! Fair dos though, Plod have to assembled evidence and have kept the unfortunate child away from those masquerading as parents.

    Fuel price question ???

Most of the price is tax - we all know that. From an oil company perspective, although the cost of refining/distribution has been flat/lowered, as the basic crude sources become scarce, the exploration costs have rocketed and of course the success rate has falled. It can cost many millions just...
