    Parts help please

Due to the loads exerted on this component, I think that I'd still go for welding, purely because I wouldn't be confident I could source rivets of a close enough spec to those used by MB - ordinary poppers from the local hardware store just aren't going to cut it. There's an old adage that...

    Parts help please

For future ref The part number is A 210 626 01 19 In Mercedes parts speak it's a "bracing unit" £22.92 including VAT. The nice lady I spoke to at the dealership even got it delivered to me free because the driver passes my work on his way to another branch :) It's an easy welding...

please help e240 w211 misfire nightmare!!!!!!!!

I had a similar issue on my W210 E240. Having spent an arm and a leg on it I noted that when I'd changed the MAF it seemed better for a little bit. So, I unplugged and replugged the MAF a few times and it got better for a couple of weeks, then went back to normal. Plug on the wiring harness...

    Parts help please

My E240 finally succumbed to W210 Front Suspension Disease. Offside spring perch has disintegrated, nearside's ok (weird) Can I buy one from somewhere and get my local welding genie to weld it up for me. I have access to jigs etc to check alignment, I just can not find either 1. The...

    Engine Temp?

My E36 ran same as yours, and the viscous coupling was ok. On hot days in traffic it touched 100, mostly it sat at 80. In an emergency I have modified viscous fan units simply by torquing up the centre bolt until it is to tight it locks the coupling on all the time. Not tried it on a Merc so...

    DIY Service help

Actually a proper adapter card to give you a serial port is handy for a whole host of things, they're readily available and cheap too - both ExpressCard and PCMCIA. Much better to use one of these than a USB-Serial converter which very often don't work

W210 E240 Hot Starting Issue - Sort Of, Weird

That engine change, was that the 2.4 to 2.6l change. If so mine is definately the 2.4l version. Can anyone give me a part number and source for the sensor, I can send me chassis number if it helps, or should I just go and buy them from the dealership?

W210 E240 Hot Starting Issue - Sort Of, Weird

Wouldn't that have shown on the diagnostics though, or could it be that at certain temperatures it quits?

W210 E240 Hot Starting Issue - Sort Of, Weird

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice regarding this car for me in the past - Sorry, but once I more I prostrate myself at your feet and beg further assistance. 1999 E240 2.4 V6. Had misfiring issues etc which turned out to be a oxygen sensor and MAF. Now I have a new fault which my...

    W210 199 E240 Auto Stalling & Misfiring

Just to close this thread off, in case anyone else has the same issue - cause of this problem was not only the MAF, but also the left bank upstream oxygen sensor - MAF and oxygen sensor work together, thus failure of either give similar issues, but the oxygen sensor does show on a diagnostic readout

Cold Snap = Glow Plug Failure?

Yes, a lot easier. Wait until it's cooled down to refit them though or you risk them being over tight when the engine does cool

    W210 199 E240 Auto Stalling & Misfiring

Dieselman, thanks for the info. Do you happen to know what pins on the ECU the various pins are connected to? Sorry to be a pain but as you might have gathered I haven't got a manual for this car yet

    W210 199 E240 Auto Stalling & Misfiring

Does anyone know what voltages and signals I should see on the MAF connector. I comfortable with voltmeter and oscilloscope. Connector or wiring problem seems most likely now since nobody's identified anything which could poison the MAF

    W210 199 E240 Auto Stalling & Misfiring

Arrrrgggghhhhh! Help please OK, so six weeks ago I replaced the MAF and it looked like everything was fine. Now, same faults again  Changing MAF every six weeks is gonna make this a very expensive car to run, Is there something which could be poisoning the MAF, is there somewhere...

    W210 ('02) E220 CDI Battery

I used to use Bosh Silver all the time for all my cars and vans - but in the last couple of years I seem to be suffering short life from them - I've returned more than a dozen under warranty so far after around a year's use, thank goodness for the long warranty on them. As well as my cars I...

    500 sec starting woes

And when you do, connect the ground cable to the engine, not to the battery, it's easier to get a good low resistance connection that way

Question, MAF Sensor, from Euro Car Parts.

Maybe the chance of contact from packing, examination and fitting contaminating or even distorting the sensor element.
