    Mercedes Me Adapter Alternative?

Bummer. I guess not. I tried the apps I could find but they're only diagnostic or performance related stuff.

    Mercedes Me Adapter Alternative?

MB killed off the adapter at the end of August so the app doesn't work any more. Still connects to the phone though. My question is, is there an alternative app? Or is there an alternative solution? What I want is to record my trips as in the route, mileage at the start and end of trips...

    V6 Diesel software update recall

Hi guys, Been monitoring fuel economy and the gearbox. Can't detect any changes in fuel economy behaviour. I've not done a detailed analysis but my experience is telling me that there's nothing standing out in the numbers. Gearbox has been the same too. No changes to shift patterns and it's...

    V6 Diesel software update recall

Not noticed any changes and gearboxes are something to which I'm extremely sensitive. But I'll check on the way home and report back.

    V6 Diesel software update recall

Had MOT and service this week on my 63 plate CLS 350 CDI Shooting Brake. Software was also updated; COMAND, maps, and this ECU update were installed. Thus far no issues. Car feels the same, performance is the same. I am monitoring fuel consumption and will report back when I have sufficient data...

Scary! CLK W208 steering itself at low speed

I had this on my old 2002 S210. A proper geometry setup sorted it no worries.

C class rear windscreen repeat shattering

What you could do is have a look at the new window, after it's been fitted for a few weeks, using a polarising filter. Some sunglasses are polarisers and you can buy polarising film from Ebay and you may even know someone who has one for a camera lens. When you look at the window through the...

    Fuel contamination

If they're making a claim they need to back it up with evidence. Unevidenced claims can be dismissed without issue. You could get the fuel siphoned out and then refill with known good. But I'd not do this until there's a good reason to think the fuel may be contaminated. It's simple to get a...

S211 Engine temperature and interior heating

It's not a massive job any any means. But it can be tricky. I don't know the specifics of your car but in general the following is true for 99.99% of cases. You don't need to drain any oil from the engine to change the thermostat. You will need to open up the coolant system and some will drain...

S211 Engine temperature and interior heating

I had the same thing on my old S210 E Class. Was completely stable but stuck around the 60 degrees area. New thermostat sorted it out and it was then completely stable but at 90 degrees. And the heating worked properly.

    MPG

I have a CLS 350CDI Shooting Brake. My average over all conditions and all time since I bought it is 29.3 MPG. Which is a bit crap. Normally cruising at +20 on the motorway and I'm not usually pootling around at other times either. Almost all journeys are short commute to work and back less than...

    w219 spare wheel well

I've got the X218 and the full size 19" 285/35 fits in the hole where the space saver was. I know this because I had a blowout on the M40 last weekend on the way to the Star Trek convention in Birmingham.

    MercedesMe app very unreliable

Yep. Same here. Also found it comes up sometimes in the middle of a journey. I've not been able to figure out what these mid-journey popups could be correlated with. Or even if that's relevant. It's just really annoying.

    MercedesMe app very unreliable

Ah. The thing I meant wasn't about starting the car. It was about the daft popup box wanting permissions that appears on the app every time the thing senses the car is on. If you don't tap to give permissions the app doesn't work properly. So the sequence is: Start car with the key, Mme box...

    MercedesMe app very unreliable

If by dual authentication you're referring to having to tap the app permission before the app responds properly, I can tell you it's not remotely useful. It's a massive pain in the arris actually. The app will not record journeys properly without having to respond to this popup. Using the phone...

    E350CDI - niggles...

The gearbox is a little slow witted. Might account for your experience. Check it in sport mode. And keep a close eye on the revs when it appears to be slipping. If the revs don't spin up it's not slipping, it just feels like it is. I don't like this either. It's all fine in sport mode though. As...

    Hydrogen injection system

Hydrogen is only a fuel if it's used to generate protons for proton exchange across a membrane to generate an electric current as in a fuel cell, or to burn with oxygen to produce heat. It's absolutely not a fuel on its own. The ICE uses a variety of carbon molecules and oxygen and an input of...

    Thoughts on MB service plans?

I took out the Service Plan with my CLS. Had one service on it thus far and including the MOT it was £54. Not used to small bills so this was a bit of a shock. :D

Tier 1 Warranty worth it or not?

I did the thing and took out Tier 1 with no excess. The price saving wasn't worth the cost of the excess.

Tier 1 Warranty worth it or not?

Mine is also up for renewal shortly. It's about £679 for Tier 1 for the CLS and honestly I think it's probably worth it for the peace of mind alone. Having had years of >£2k per year bills on the old car I have no intention of forking out those sums again. So for the price and the support it...
