    w124 Repair Rust before sale?

Yes thats what I was thinking, but didn't there used to be a big difference between a w124 in very good, almost immaculate condition and average to poor w124. And if this is still the case not getting the paint sorted could push my car's value a lot lower than what it should be. Most of the...

    w124 Repair Rust before sale?

I'm considering selling my w124 e300 diesel saloon, but it has some rust/ rust repairs that may put people off. There is rust on: the NS front wheel arch, just round the edge and bubbling through in one or two spots. the drivers door where the plastic trim meets the steel panel (three spots)...

    w124 Headlight Problem

Yes when i wiggle the stalk the lights come back on. Stalk it is then.... Being modular they look easyish to replace!? Is it simple enough stripping off the concealing trim?

    w124 Headlight Problem

When switching back from full beam my dipped headlights don't come back on, leaving me with just sidelights. This can also happen when using the indicators or just flashing full beam. Is this likely to be a fault with the indicator stalk or is there a relay somewhere that could cause these...

    Diesel Knock

Thanks for all your replies. I think i will start with Dieselman's suggestion first, being the simplest to try. Dieselman: The EGR system is already disconnected, buts thanks for the suggestion anyway. To clarify your injector cleaner suggestion; essentialy you run straight injector cleaner...

    Diesel Knock

Hmm i've tried a full bottle of that (8 tanks). It didnt seem to make much difference to the knock, but did seem to increase mpg a little...

    Diesel Knock

I'm getting a fair bit of diesel knock on my 95 w124 e300 diesel (NA om606 engine) between 1600 and 2300 revs. The noise is most noticable on diesel and quietens when running on veg. I'm guessing the injectors are on the way out or perhaps timing chain stretch has knocked the injector pump...

    w124 e300 diesel mpg record?

Diesel. i have been running on veg (and getting 32-35mpg) but it wasn't practical for that trip. Recently serviced too, which helps.

    w124 e300 diesel mpg record?

    I recorded 38.8mpg over a 300 mile trip! 60% was 60mph A roads and 40% 80mph motorway cruise. Better than my old 1.4 fiesta!

    w124 e300 diesel vacuum modulator

Thats the one i'm after. I have just had a look at lunch time and it looks like the vacuum can be altered at this location by altering the position of the down connecting strut from the rotating throttle mount.

    w124 e300 diesel vacuum modulator

Apparently you can modify the pressure of the shifts with respect to the position of throttle by rotating the modulator itself. This link is from an ealier benz and with respect to a different issue, but i think you can get the idea: http://dieselgiant.com/trannyleverreplace.htm

    w124 e300 diesel vacuum modulator

Yes that sounds like it, thanks. My local independant told me that the adjustor on the side of the gearbox is just a valve, and the modulator is actually in the engine bay and is attached to the throttle (i'm not sure how). But this enables the vacuum pressure to be adjusted to different...

    w124 e300 diesel vacuum modulator

Does anyone know where its located? I'm refering to the modulator itself and not the pressure adjustment valve on the side of the gearbox. I'm guessing its under the intake manifold somewhere but would like to know for sure before i take it off!

    w124 e300 Diesel experiences

    >>The upside is that, once fixed, the problems won't reoccur quickly and if you keep the rust at bay you'll have a very good car for the forseeable future Thats what i'm hoping for! Thanks
