    R Class suprise

Dear Mr Hawk20 I cannot be bothered to argue with your 'facts'. Suffice to say that in my R-Class (that's a real-life one, not dimensions from a brochure or the distant memory of a long-ago showroom measuring/tyre kicking session), the seat does not move forwards when I raise it up/down! The...

    R Class suprise

As predicted....... Your assumption about people with legs longer than 31/32 inches is completely flawed - in real life very tall people are happy with the front leg room in the R-Class. A colleague of mine is 6' 11" - and presumably has long legs - he is happy in a R-Class... Go figure!

    R Class suprise

I've been running my R-Class SWB for a year now (leased) and I am very pleased with it. For 2 kids and a dog, I think the SWB would be fine. There is sufficient leg room in the back for adults, let alone kids - despite what some people might say. In five seat mode the boot is pretty...

How much for a new W211??

Normal practice is to quote leasing/contract hire deals exclusive of VAT. Recently, most of the Mercedes leasing deals have also been available to private individuals - just add the VAT.

    What wristwatch do you wear?

I was lucky enough to get one of these for Christmas.....

How many drivers here own their cars?

My R class is leased on a personal contract hire deal. I opted out of the company car scheme and got an allowance instead. So I used the allowance to fund the lease - and because of the good deal I got on the R-class, the whole thing makes loads of sense. The only downside to this approach is...

A class, B class or possible Alternatives

Although quite a bit larger, I can wholeheartedly recommend the R Class. The seat height is just right and entry and exit are easy. On the 5 seater, the boot is plenty big enough for a wheelchair and will still have room for shopping, suitcases etc.. As second-hand vehicles, when someone else...

    demise of the R Class

I've got to wonder just how loooonnng your legs are! My R-Class (5 seater) has acres of space and plenty of legroom (as I said in an earlier post, enough for a 6' 11" colleague...). For me it is a perfect niche car...and I enjoy its rarity :)

What's your most redundant "extra"/function on the car?

I use this feature every time I lock the car - mainly to provide visual confirmation that I've locked the car - to satisfy my slightly obsessive concern on that front.......

What's your most redundant "extra"/function on the car?

I mentioned it once, and I think I got away with it....:)

What's your most redundant "extra"/function on the car?

I see little or no point in cruise control (in the UK at least). Never use the speed limiter either. Also, the electric rear quarter-light windows - only ever tested on day one.

    ML buying advice

Guess it depends on the type of use...I had my '03 ML270CDi for 36,000 miles without replacing any of the tyres. Have to agree with this point. Never the easiest car for a smooth take-off.

    demise of the R Class

I agree, MB have not stayed true to their concept. However, I bought what I wanted (a five seater with a large boot), rather than a specific marketing message. For me (6' 0" on a good day), there is plenty of leg-room in the front. As I said, my 6' 11" colleague reckoned there was as much room...

    Flashing In Public

Driving an R Class, I have been acknowledged by several other wise people driving the same..... Of course, this doesn't happen very often..............:)

    considering R class

I have had my R280 since May and I have now clocked up 4,000 comfortable, quiet miles. Mine is a Short Wheelbase so it is 4.922m long. That is only 1.5 inches longer than an E-Class estate. The LWB is 5.127m long. Where you notice the difference during parking is in the width. The R is 10cm/4...

    demise of the R Class

Front seat space is excellent - reach as well as width. A German colleague of mine who is 6' 11" had no problem getting comfortable in the passenger seat. He drives an E-Class and he was very complimentary. My Kids are more than 6' tall and seem happy in the back seats (well, as happy as...

    demise of the R Class

You are right, you do have to think about parking before you dive in. Having said that, I park mine in Manchester airport multi-storey without a problem.

    demise of the R Class

Having owned an R-class for the past 3 months, the one thing you come to appreciate is that it has the ultimate luxury - SPACE - in abundance. The shoulder space (width between the front seats), space around your head (due to additional height) etc, is fantastic. In the back seats (mine is a...

    demise of the R Class

Having owned an ML and a BMW X SUV, I can confirm that the R-Class is far more car-like to drive than either of them. (I have an R280 SWB). Sure it is not a sports car, but it is not desgined for that.
