    Small GPS speed camera detector

Thanks for your response and just a couple of questions if you don't mind? (and honestly I'm not putting you on the spot - it's just you seem quite open about the subject): 1. What exactly is a 'Laser Defence' device? And if it is as I suspect a 'jammer', as an Advanced Driver Trainer do you...

    Small GPS speed camera detector

You're such a rebel ;) Seriously though, what is the real point of these type devices? Would the members who advocate their use say they are an aid to road safety (which sounds like officialdom speak) or just simply a tool to avoid detection, ergo prosecution, when exceeding the speed limit? I...

    Use of mobiles whilst driving....

I completely agree this is a common sight on our roads - but I can assure you there are some police officers on the roads enforcing this legislation on a daily basis ;)

    Is the Law an Ass?

you missed off the 'eating donuts' bit - don't ever forget that's the most important aspect of policing. :D

    Is the Law an Ass?

If it's on a road the public have general access to then the police will act (it will come under the Road Traffic Act). If it's on private property the police have no powers except under certain circumstances and normally only if a crime has been committed. In the OP's circumstances the latter...

Long weekend in Lisbon - any suggestions on what to see

It's just a short trip out to Estoril and the public transport there used to be cheap and plentiful (train). Nice big casino near to the Autodrome which has/had restaurants and galleries. There's also some nice coastline/beaches (beware of the racy tides though!).

    Is the Law an Ass?

I'd be amazed if the local police haven't done any keeper enquiries on this vehicle - it's really not difficult. And as hawk20 states, the VIN at least should be checked as it's possibly on stiff plates - especially as it's a high value vehicle. Odd. You could perhaps try your...

Are they making an example of him?

I'm not surprised he was jailed for what happened as without doubt it was a top-end case of Dangerous Driving. He knew that if you are in the Public Service, particularly when upholding the law as a member of the Police, he would always come under the closest scrutiny and he should always have...

My warranty is well and truly up but do I care

We stayed near to Elgin so didn't venture above the Moray Forth this time. I totally agree about the best times to drive around Scotland (avoid the hols) but we were tied as we had our boys with us. I spent many happy days 'Munro-bagging' all over your country while living there and visited some...

My warranty is well and truly up but do I care

The last pic was my second home for too many years  but i do have a strange warm feeling looking at it (indigestion maybe?). The views are just stunning all around that area - me and Pammy detoured there en-route to Inverness last Summer. Ah, nostalgia - it's not what it used to be :D

Biker jailed for son's 122mph ride!!

On one of the clips doing the rounds the device 'locks-on' and displays the speed as 122mph - this again indicates to me it was a hand-held device. I know from experience when viewing video footage of high-speed pursuits for example it is impossible to get a real feel for the actual speeds...

Biker jailed for son's 122mph ride!!

I deliberately called it that because i knew it would get a rise from someone - I just didn't expect it so quickly :D

Biker jailed for son's 122mph ride!!

Me too - speed/time/distance calculators (such as VASCAR) are normally to 2 decimal places i.e 122.36mph whereas laser type round down to the nearest lower full speed i.e 122mph. Also the image does not show any of the variables associated with VASCAR type devices. I'm sure the motorcycle's...
