you can't compare an N/A 997 porsche to a turbo charged diesel, naturally the diesel will feel torquey as it has a turbo and a narrow power band compared with an N/A petrol. Stick a turbo on an N/A petrol engine and you get similar results to the diesel.

the E220 engine just needs to be reved hard, it only really picks up nicley after 4,000 rpm as it's a VVT engine. Perhaps you weren't giving it enough revs!

Diesel's always feel very fast due to the narrow power band and low down torque. In gear performance figures are as a result very good, such as coming off a roundabout but straight line figures aren't any better than the petrol version.

I've had Toyos on a few cars and think they are very good, I wouldn't call them a budget tyre at all! Have also had P zero's and they were pretty poor, especially in the wet. Best Wet weather tyre I have had are Goodyear F1's.
