    ML 270 Power loss

Good one Jay Interestingly, I have been out on a jaunt to (quickly) find an alternative car on a trade in basis and since the car has been plugged in, it seems substantially better and will rev to 3500 Definite improvement so I am now wondering whether something has fixed itself

    ML 270 Power loss

Engine will not rev beyond 2800 rpm, lack of power and nil turbo boost - no warning lights I took the car to MB dealership and the technicians report is:- Manifold linkage broken at inlet port shut off motor. Requires new manifold and IPSO All that for a cool fifteen hundred quid -...

    GAP insurance. Good idea?

I paid through the nose on the first ML and by sheer fluke, only 3 months after I bought the car it was written off and the other partys insurers actually paid out more than I paid for the car (from main dealer). Bargained the (again main dealer) to death on the second ML and I may have paid...

    SE P990 Vs Nokia 9500

Bl hell, knew nothing of this. I like SE stuff. Had a P900 and the two previous modles, switched to a BB just over a year ago and upgraded last week to a 7130G (free O2) - it suits me, as the main requirement is email on the hoof and that definitely works. Take a look - they are fine for...

What I'm sending to thames Water today!

Way to go Alfie. We have cancelled all utility DD's - they bil,l we pay, after 30 days. Unless we have issue and then the appropriate amount gets deducted. If we get into dispute/correspondence I make it clear that every time we write I will deduct £ 75.00 from the disputed amount for...

    Mercedes air con?

At the risk of boring everyone, the MB a/c service is, IMO, worth every penny - the a/c on our old C Est became feeble. We paid the 99 quid and it came back a completely different car - freezing cold, if you wanted it. The entire system had been cleaned and deodourised. Am surprised at...

    Nice 'Cabbie'

Bloke over the road bought one for his Mrs quite recently. He reckons he was very close to a really good SLC but was afraid of the age thing. Am bit narked as next door neighbor has chopped his MB in for a bl Lexus two door doo-dah. We are down to five Mercs between four houses now :(

    New S-class Hit or miss?

Somehow just does not look as impressive as prevous S models. Love fact that the car bristles with 'first' technology. Like JC said, in a few years time the various wizardry will be standard spec in Mondeos. That is what an S is all about, if you ask me.

    1993 600 SEC (CL600) in good shape

Amazing how prices have tumbled, in real terms - my old SLC when bought new in 1978 (not by me....) would have been just about the same price as I paid for my first house. £ 138,000 in 1993, would have been about the same value as a four bed semi we had at the same time

    What wristwatch do you wear?

Everyday use one of a collection of Swatch Irony or me old faithful but slow Rolex Air King. Have a Cartier 'tank' mechanical - harly ever wear it might give it to daughter for her 21st in nine years time.

Air Con Specialist in Essex (Preferably near Brentwood)

Saorbust - I went forthe cheap option and the a/c on my E packed up. The 99 quid deal from the stealers really is worth it - had it carried out on the C class. Brilliant job, worth every penny clean/fresh system and icy cold.

I think this won't last long - there was a similar insurance scheme to cover drink driving years ago. It was stopped, for obvious reasons, as i'm sure this one will be too.

    two computors, one broadband

We run four PC's and a lappie off a single broadband connection. Two PC's in the office at home and the two kids are on a different floor, with a wireless connection. We have a single PC (no screen/keyboard - use remote desktop connection if need be) as a server. The whole...

    Salt deposits on sound insulation..

No Howard, not braver - just a bit stupid. Was in a hurry, main dealer car one owner low miles... I may have just lifted the lid and looked at the engine (why I don't know....). I might just go mad and take some pics for future reference / in the hope that someone may be able to fathom out...

    Question for Plodd

I would throw the gauntlet down and challenge anyone to better Essex Police. I know they have a job to do and sort of appreciate the crime scene angle - but a van dinging the central res no injuries and no others involved does not warrant closing the M25 for about an hour. Tow the *&&^%...
