    Thule K-Summit Snow Chain

I agree. However after having been caught out by surprise and getting stuck last year with no way out but to slide and skid and eventually giving up and leaving the car by the side, I'm really after a emergency kit to at least drive off to a "safer" location. This I thought would possibly fit...

    Thule K-Summit Snow Chain

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I agree that snow tyres should be the first choice but I wonder if London roads really warrant snow tyres. Then there's the issue of tyre plus rims storage for the rest of the year... Hmm... decisions, decsions...

    car covers

I got a "taylor-made" cover for my dad's SL on his birthday last year from Specialised Covers (link). They were a perfect fit and were fully water-proof yet totally ventilated so there was no issue of moisture being trapped under the covers.

Anyone seen any good number plates on cars lately?

A mate of mine has "OLD GIT" on his BMW 335 out in Houston just for fun! Mind you, there are a lot of personalised plates out in the States that sometimes make you wonder...

    Thule K-Summit Snow Chain

Hi all, It's been a very long while since I last visited this forum but when in need of info relating to the MB, I always come back here... Anyhow, it's that time of the year again with the cold spell about to set in. After getting stuck last year in the 211 when it snowed in London, I was...

    Garage door

Don't know if it is compatible with your garage arrangement but have you considered the "round-the-corner" type doors like the Vertico (Link) or Rundum Meir (Link) options? I personally prefer these to the overhead roller types.

    Bug Poop

Make sure you use the most basic no-nonsense type of baby wipes that have not been "enriched" with oils, creams or lotions as these will leave a residue after wiping!

W211 How to disable passenger airbag?

I bought a pair of Mercedes transponders off ebay a while back and it did the trick on my w211 estate with my non-Mercedes branded child seats. Remember that you DO need to have both transponders on the seat under the child seat for the front passenger air bag to deactivate properly. Here's...

My ultimate DIY kit... Power 8 Workshop

The main advantage for me was the fact that I had a portable scroll saw, drill press and table saw (mounted on the workmate for stability) in addition to the standard jig saw, circular saw and hammer drill all in one kit. Ideal for me when I considered the hassle, cost and actual space...

    Auto window opening W211

Remember that the sensor is only located on the driver's door handle and you need to be in a line-of-sight to activate it as it is via an infrared beam rather then a "wireless" system.

My ultimate DIY kit... Power 8 Workshop

Hi all, I know I don't post much but here's something I got recently (non-Mercedes related) but I just had to share it... With the pending move to a larger house in a couple of months time, I managed to convince SWMBO that I really needed a proper set of tools to deal with all the laminate...

    Child car seats

My only real concern is that with the the Navi CPU located in the rear passenger side AND the Sub-Woofer located in the rear driver side, in a rear collision scenario the rear crumple zone may propel these units towards the kids. I've attached a shot of my kids in the rear seats for reference...

    Invitation for new Eclass

Just received my invitation to the launch on the 11th of June here in London. I actually got to see the cars earlier this week when I went in for my first service on the E280 and I must say that the E350 CGI Coupe looked fantastic!

    Changing Digital Speedometer Settings

I believe the reason for this is that the rest of Europe uses km/h so when a UK Merc is driven into Europe, you always have a way to cross check your speed in km/h and cannot plea ignorance if catch speeding... 70miles/h is very different from 70km/h!
