    W220 side glass

Guys, just noticed the other day, whilst going through the car wash, that the drivers window isn't going all the way into the channel at the top of the door frame, it clobbers the outside edge of the rubber seal that's set into the frame rather than going into the channel, if that makes sense...

    East Kent indies

Hi all, anyone have any knowledge of any specialists in East Kent? I know about Class Cars, any idea about Mercworld? They are on the B & Q estate on the Margate to Ramsgate Road, north of Westwood Cross. Having tried a search I can't find any mention of them at all.

For those of us who don't know the procedure Dieselman, could you explain how to do a leak off test, I for one would be very grateful.

    Winter arrives

Turned out to be the cam sensor,I renewed all the pipework last year after the cold start became a bit of a lottery and the fuel filter about 2 months ago during a service. The new sensor measures 2.5 ohms between pins 1 and 2, 1.8 between 2 and 3 as far as I can tell from my knackered old...

    Winter arrives

Morning all. The first cold day of the year and the car will not fire up. There's fuel in the tank and the starter spins the engine over well as usual but not a peep out of it. It was fine yesterday when it was a balmy 13 degrees! My first thoughts are that it might be the crank or cam...

    60 mpg

I allowed the other half to drive my 210 a few weeks ago up to Cambridge from Dartford, M25, M11 and A14 for a few miles. She'd managed to get 60 mpg on the display by the time we had got as far as Stanstead, 60-70 mph so not dawdling. Best I've managed is about 58, she must have a slightly...

    Wheel spacers

I'm thinking of 20 mm spacers which can be bought with or without the retaining bolts, I guess the ones with the bolts will be the safest bet. The ones on fleabay have the hubcentric ring as well.

    Wheel spacers

Evening all Would you say one of these is better than the other? Apart from one falling off the hub when the wheel is removed obviously. I'm thinking from a safety point of view more than anything. They aren't Merc specific, I couldn't find any jpeg images on fleabay but you get the idea I hope.

E220 CDI (W212) MPG variation with temperature

What temperature does the engine run at when warmed through? My 210's fuel consumption varied like that until the thermostat was changed.

    Any suggestions in Kent?

Yes he does come across like that, seemed to cheer up when we got chatting though. Mind you, I'd rather have Mr grumpy who knows what he's doing work on my car rather than the chatty tw*t who was supposed to have done the same job a year ago and obviously didn't. A story for another day maybe.

    Any suggestions in Kent?

I'd like to put a good word in for TEC Automotive in Northfleet who were very accommodating yesterday when I rang them. I had a 'jumping out of gear moment' which wasn't amusing to say the least. They managed to fit me in and change the atf, filter etc which so far has seen a considerable...

Warmer Temps = Less Fuel Used

I noticed the same thing last year, more fuel used when the weather was colder. I've put a new thermostat in now though so it doesn't make any difference what the outside temperature is, it's doing the same to the gallon hot or cold.

    Injector seals leaking (again)

I stuck a thin plastic tube onto the end of the hoover pipe, there are little plugs in the cleaning kit that stop crud going down the bolt holes. I cleaned off the crap around the injector first, took the clamp off, plugged the hole and then removed the injector. Didn't have any problems with...
